UK ISP Ogi<\/a> (Spectrum Internet), which is being backed by investment from Infracapital, has today announced that they’ve grown to employ 100 people. The new staff will help to support the first phase of their \u00a3200m project (here<\/a>) to rollout a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP<\/a>) broadband network to 150,000 premises in South Wales by 2025.<\/p>\n

The jobs have been created right across the organisation, including in engineering and network delivery, as well as in customer service, IT, sales and marketing roles. The broadband company also has future plans to expand beyond this initial build programme, to reach as many towns and villages in the area as possible (over 350,000 premises across Wales could be reached via a future phase).<\/p>\n

The recruitment effort remains ongoing, as Ogi<\/a> have previously said that they were planning to create more than 140 new jobs within the company as part of their rollout plan. We should point out that this doesn’t include the many supported jobs in their supply chain, most of which stem from contracts with three civil engineering firms – O\u2019Conner Utilities<\/strong> (Central South Wales), Avonline Networks<\/strong> (South East Wales) and Network Plus<\/strong> (South West Wales).<\/p>\n

Ben Allwright, CEO of Ogi<\/a>, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

By attracting investment and creating jobs, our local economic impact is rippling right across south Wales and beyond, just as our ultrafast broadband network spreads too. The rollout itself has already started in several areas, such as across the town of Abergavenny. Other towns and villages across parts of Monmouthshire, the Vale of Glamorgan and Pembrokeshire will soon follow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
