{"id":28780,"date":"2021-10-06T13:26:31","date_gmt":"2021-10-06T12:26:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=28780"},"modified":"2021-10-06T13:26:31","modified_gmt":"2021-10-06T12:26:31","slug":"broadway-partners-get-gbp145m-for-uk-rollout-of-gigabit-fibre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/10\/broadway-partners-get-gbp145m-for-uk-rollout-of-gigabit-fibre.html","title":{"rendered":"Broadway Partners Get GBP145m for UK Rollout of Gigabit Fibre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwaypartners.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Broadway Partners<\/a> (ISP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwaybroadband.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Broadway Broadband<\/a>) has today secured a huge investment of \u00a3145m from Downing LLP to fuel their rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>) broadband network, which aspires to cover 250,000 homes and businesses by 2025 &#8211; mostly across rural parts of Scotland and Wales.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The operator, which started life in 2016 by deploying <strong>Fixed Wireless Access<\/strong> (FWA) networks in remote rural communities, has more recently begun to deploy a growing number of full fibre networks across multiple villages in rural parts of Wales. Some of their existing networks can be found in parts of Arran, Inverness-shire, Ayrshire, Stirlingshire, Perth &amp; Kinross, Monmouthshire and Pembrokeshire.<\/p>\n<p>Last year Broadway spoke of a tentative plan to extend their &#8220;<em>gigabit-capable &#8230; fibre<\/em>&#8221; network to cover 500,000 UK homes and businesses by the end of 2022 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2020\/05\/broadway-partners-target-500k-uk-premises-for-fttp-broadband.html\">here<\/a>), which at the time seemed rather optimistic. By comparison, today&#8217;s new &#8220;<em>aspiration<\/em>&#8221; of reaching<strong> 250,000 premises<\/strong> by 2025, which is backed by some solid investment, seems much more viable.<\/p>\n<p>As part of that, the provider intends to extend their fibre optic cables into new communities across parts of Powys, Ceredigion, and Carmarthenshire in Wales.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Michael Armitage, CEO of Broadway Partners, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The investment from Downing LLP will enable Broadway Partners to accelerate its rural broadband programme, offering vital connectivity to businesses and households in parts of the country that other providers can\u2019t reach.
