{"id":28872,"date":"2021-10-14T11:36:37","date_gmt":"2021-10-14T10:36:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=28872"},"modified":"2021-10-14T16:10:16","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T15:10:16","slug":"email-outage-strikes-customers-of-uk-broadband-isp-bt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/10\/email-outage-strikes-customers-of-uk-broadband-isp-bt.html","title":{"rendered":"Email and Account Outage Strikes Customers of UK ISP BT UPDATE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Customers of UK broadband ISP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> are this morning reporting that the internet provider seems to be suffering from an outage of their email (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> Mail) and online account platform, which is preventing users from being able to login to their accounts and thus check or send messages.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The problems appear to have started at around 10:30am and are currently ongoing. Sadly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> has made their Service Status reports private, but they have put out a very general statement: &#8220;<em>We&#8217;re aware of a problem that may be preventing some customers from logging into their BT Mail account. We&#8217;re really sorry about this, but are working to get it fixed as quickly as possible<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The issue appears to be impacting customers across the United Kingdom. At present, it&#8217;s unclear what the cause might be or when it will be resolved. In addition, some customers are reporting that they can&#8217;t get into their BT accounts in order to enable Parental Controls etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE 4:08pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve had a new statement from BT, although it doesn&#8217;t add much: &#8220;<em>Some customers are experiencing problems trying to use their BT email, and we\u2019re working quickly to resolve this. BT phone, broadband and mobile services are not affected.
