Emtelle<\/a> UK, which is a global manufacturer of blown fibre and ducted network solution, has secured a multi-million pound contract to support Phase One of Ogi<\/a>‘s \u00a3200m project (here<\/a>) – backed by Infracapital – to deploy a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP<\/a>) broadband ISP network to 150,000 premises in South Wales by 2025.<\/p>\n

Under Emtelle’s new 3-year deal, the company will supply Ogi<\/a> with various primary duct, subducts, microducts and fibre components. The company will also provide support and training as part of this partnership, which has already begun.<\/p>\n

As well as using Emtell’\u2019s passive solutions for its own networks, Ogi<\/a> is also building a lot of their new network by using Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) solutions to run fibre via Openreach<\/a>’s existing access network infrastructure (cable ducts etc.). Emtelle\u2019s proposition includes a range of PIA compliant solutions to meet this requirement.<\/p>\n

Towns and villages in Monmouthshire, the Vale of Glamorgan and Pembrokeshire, will be amongst the first to benefit from all this work and, if all goes according to plan, then Ogi may expand their ambition to cover 350,000 premises across Wales.
