{"id":30117,"date":"2022-02-15T00:01:26","date_gmt":"2022-02-15T00:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=30117"},"modified":"2022-02-14T13:59:45","modified_gmt":"2022-02-14T13:59:45","slug":"isp-glide-appoints-new-head-of-regulation-and-compliance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/02\/isp-glide-appoints-new-head-of-regulation-and-compliance.html","title":{"rendered":"ISP Glide Appoints New Head of Regulation and Compliance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Business and residential ISP <a href=\"https:\/\/glidegroup.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Glide Group<\/a>, which is busy extending their UK full fibre broadband network (leased lines and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a> etc.), has this week announced the appointment of Max Fernando as their new Head of Regulation &amp; Compliance to represent the company in related discussions.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The name Max Fernando is a familiar one as he was only recently appointed Chair of the Independent Networks Cooperative Association&#8217;s (INCA) Standards Committee and, prior to that, he held the position of Regulatory Manager at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>. Fernando has also worked across three teams at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> In 2020 Glide was acquired by American infrastructure investment firm Alinda Capital Partners (ACP), which allegedly paid c.\u00a3200m to acquire the business (Glide also operate in Ireland, Italy and Spain).<\/div>\n<p>In his new role at Glide, Fernando will head up the implementation of a number of upcoming regulatory telecommunications initiatives, such as the UK Government&#8217;s new Telecoms Security Bill (TSB), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a>&#8217;s One Touch Switching (OTS) system to improve migration between ISPs and the \u00a35bn Project Gigabit broadband rollout, ensuring they work for AltNets as well as the larger players in the market.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Tim Pilcher, CEO of Glide Group, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are delighted to have Max join the Glide team during a time of crucial telecommunications regulatory initiatives.
