Vodafone<\/a> UK has just published their latest Q1 FY23 results, which reveals that their fixed broadband base grew again to total 1,072,000 customers (up by 22k in the quarter vs 59k in Q4 FY22) and their mobile base also increased to total 17.22m (up by 115k vs 51k in the previous quarter).<\/p>\n

In terms of the operator’s fixed broadband base, over half of those are now “converged<\/em>” subscribers (i.e. they take both mobile and fixed broadband from the operator). Customers on their broadband service tend to reflect a mix of hybrid fibre FTTC<\/a> and full fibre FTTP<\/a> connections on both Openreach<\/a> and CityFibre<\/a>’s UK networks. Sadly, they’ve never shown their FTTP<\/a> base in detail, so we can’t see which products and platforms drive this take-up.<\/p>\n

As for mobile, the operator’s customer base reported the quarterly addition of 18,000 Pay Monthly customers (down from +37,000 last quarter) and another rise of 97,000 Prepaid (Pay As You Go) users (up from 14,000). In addition, quarterly mobile broadband (data) usage across their UK network reached 355,661 TeraBytes<\/strong>, which is up from 325,968 TB last quarter.<\/p>\n

Nick Read, Group CEO, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We have executed in line with our expectations, delivered another quarter of growth in both Europe and Africa, and seen an acceleration in business growth. Whilst we are not immune to the current macroeconomic challenges, we\u2019re on track to deliver financial results for the year in line with our guidance.<\/p>\n

Our near-term focus on our operational and portfolio priorities remains unchanged. We\u2019ve made good progress towards stabilising our commercial performance in Germany, and we continue to actively pursue opportunities with Vantage Towers and to strengthen our market positions in Europe.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Overall, the operator saw their quarterly UK service revenue increase to \u20ac1,360m (up from \u20ac1,341m in the previous quarter). The full report is here<\/a> (PDF).<\/p>\n
