London-focused broadband ISP G.Network<\/a> has today become the latest Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP<\/a>) network builder in the UK to sign the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC), which reflects a pledge to recognise the contribution of serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families – often as part of recruitment.<\/p>\n

A number of other telecoms and broadband providers (e.g. BT<\/a>, Sky Broadband<\/a>, EE<\/a>, Plusnet<\/a>, TalkTalk<\/a>, CityFibre<\/a>, Virgin Media<\/a> and many more) are also signatories of the AFC. Essentially, this represents a commitment to those who serve (i.e. ensuring they are treated fairly and not disadvantaged in their day-to-day lives).<\/p>\n

G.Network<\/a> has a specific ex-military recruitment and support pathway, including various training opportunities for members of the Armed Forces community who are looking for a telecoms career. As a result, service leavers and reservists can become fully qualified fibre engineers in a “matter of months<\/em>“.<\/p>\n

Ex-military applicants who have completed their CNCI Fibre and COPT courses with CNet training are guaranteed an interview with the company. The company currently employs a number of veterans, and is actively recruiting for more.<\/p>\n

Stephanie Ashmore, G.Network<\/a> Chief Talent Officer, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The operator itself currently claims to cover around 400,000 premises<\/strong> in the capital city (up from 300k in Jan 2022) with their gigabit-capable network and their longer-term aim is to reach c. 1.3 million premises by around the end of 2026. Most of their build is currently taking place across the Boroughs of Westminster, Camden, Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Islington, Hackney and other Inner London boroughs.<\/p>\n

Customers of the network tend to pay from \u00a324 per month for an unlimited 150Mbps (50Mbps upload) package, which includes a free connection and wireless router. Prices then go up to \u00a350 per month for their top symmetric speed 900Mbps (gigabit) package. Anybody taking a 24-month term will also currently benefit from a 6-month free service discount.<\/p>\n
