{"id":33271,"date":"2022-12-22T17:15:24","date_gmt":"2022-12-22T17:15:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=33271"},"modified":"2022-12-23T11:19:39","modified_gmt":"2022-12-23T11:19:39","slug":"welsh-wireless-broadband-isp-bluewave-goes-into-liquidation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/12\/welsh-wireless-broadband-isp-bluewave-goes-into-liquidation.html","title":{"rendered":"Welsh Wireless Broadband ISP Bluewave Goes into Liquidation UPDATE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The company behind fixed wireless broadband ISP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluewaveinternet.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bluewave<\/a> (Bluewave Communications Cymru), which serves rural premises across parts of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire in Wales with claimed download speeds of \u201c<em>up to<\/em>\u201d 40Mbps for \u00a329.99 per month, has this month entered voluntary liquidation.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The details remain unclear because the update has only just been posted on<strong> Companies House<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk\/company\/09754754\/filing-history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>). But according to related records on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegazette.co.uk\/notice\/4232582\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Gazette<\/a>, a meeting of creditors was called on 7th December to discuss the possibility of voluntarily winding the company up, which was later followed by the appointment of <strong>Fortis Insolvency Limited<\/strong> to act as the liquidator on 20th December 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The background to the latest situation is not known, although we do know that &#8211; elsewhere in the market &#8211; the large-scale UK rollout of gigabit-capable full fibre broadband networks has been putting increasing pressure on dedicated <strong>Fixed Wireless Access<\/strong> (FWA) providers. Some wireless providers have responded to this by conducting some of their own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a> build, but not all such companies can afford to follow suit.<\/p>\n<p>However, it&#8217;s worth noting that Bluewave&#8217;s sole Director, <strong>Phillips Glyndwr<\/strong>, is linked to a string of past dissolved companies with the Bluewave name on Companies House (<a href=\"https:\/\/find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk\/officers\/_bTiI6lfKRrco4mYFd2EK4XYu28\/appointments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>). Speaking of which, Glyndwr setup a new company called <a href=\"https:\/\/find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk\/company\/14508865\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bluewave WiFi Ltd<\/a> (14508865) on 28th November 2022, which is not to be confused with <a href=\"https:\/\/find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk\/company\/09629510\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bluewave WiFi Limited<\/a> (09629510) &#8211; that was dissolved on 20th September 2016. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/phoenix-companies-and-the-role-of-the-insolvency-service\/phoenix-companies-and-the-role-of-the-insolvency-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phoenix companies<\/a> are allowed under UK law.<\/p>\n<p>As if to confuse matters, the footer of Bluewave&#8217;s website still states: &#8220;<em>Copyright 2022 Bluewave Internet Ltd &#8211; All Rights Reserved<\/em>&#8220;. However, &#8220;<em>Bluewave Internet Ltd<\/em>&#8221; is a company name that is marked as being dissolved on 31st March 2020 (<a href=\"https:\/\/find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk\/company\/07505222\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve contacted Bluewave for a comment on the latest liquidation and are awaiting their response.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE 23rd Dec 2022 @ 11:16am<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve been informed that connectivity provider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apcsolutionsuk.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">APC Communications Solutions<\/a> has acquired the Bluewave business.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>A spokesperson for APC Solutions told ISPreview.co.uk:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;APC Communications Solutions has purchased the network and intends to initially bring stability for all concerned, before rolling out upgrades and network improvements to address some of the issues that we are aware some clients have faced.
