Mobile operator Lyca Mobile<\/a>, which is powered by an MVNO agreement with O2<\/a>’s (VMO2) national UK network, has today announced that they’re placing a “freeze on prices<\/em>” for “at least 6-months<\/em>” in order to help protect their customers from the cost-of-living crisis and to provide a counter to rivals that are hiking their prices.<\/p>\n

Most of the major mobile operators tend to hike their customer prices once every year, most recently by anything from 14% to 17.3%, although Lyca’s 30-day minimum contract terms make this less of an issue as customers can easily move if prices rise. But today’s 6-month price freeze will at least add some extra protection, even if only for a limited period.<\/p>\n

Lyca Mobile<\/a>’s plans range from just \u00a35 for 3GB of data, to \u00a310 for 20GB of data, or \u00a325 for unlimited data. Almost all 30-day plans include unlimited UK minutes and texts (except the 3GB plan that has 1000 texts\/mins), and many also include international minutes to over 40 destinations. Flash sales for new customers offer connectivity for as little as \u00a31 for three months (rising to \u00a35 after) – and “all plans are contract-free<\/em>” (i.e. there’s a 30-day term).<\/p>\n
