{"id":34082,"date":"2023-03-28T00:01:58","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T23:01:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=34082"},"modified":"2023-03-28T06:30:43","modified_gmt":"2023-03-28T05:30:43","slug":"openreach-extend-uk-fttc-discount-for-low-income-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/03\/openreach-extend-uk-fttc-discount-for-low-income-homes.html","title":{"rendered":"Openreach Extend UK FTTC Discount for Low-Income Homes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>) has announced that they&#8217;re extending their &#8220;<em>Connect the Unconnected<\/em>&#8221; special offer, which makes it possible for UK ISPs to waive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/vdsl\">VDSL2<\/a>) broadband connection fees for any customers who receive &#8220;<em>Universal Credit<\/em>&#8221; with no other earnings, and who aren\u2019t currently connected to its network.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The one-off connection fees on <strong>Fibre-to-the-Cabinet<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a> \/ VDSL) broadband lines at wholesale, including SOGEA, can typically be anything from \u00a354.59 to \u00a3112.20 +vat (April 2023 onwards) &#8211; depending on the exact product and installation option taken. ISPs may or may not pass this cost on to consumers, depending upon how they setup their packages.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Sadly, this offer does not extend to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/gfast\">G.fast<\/a> or full fibre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a> lines.<\/div>\n<p>The &#8220;<em>Connect the Unconnected<\/em>&#8221; offer typically enabled ISPs to offer this for free to those meeting the aforementioned eligibility criteria. But the promotion, which has been running since 2021 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.openreach.co.uk\/orpg\/home\/products\/pricing\/notificationDetails.do?data=ThQLPOgdo8c%2FpcQlNXj7BQ1SIlR3Eedo8zGwEN2opumfSOOuIV%2FJjKGBEYe2TS33NbuS4in2Opzba%2BeTCy5nyaAmkKMAog%2BKEa%2FzywyXh%2B733FkRprdkPimbVIJEBnnx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">see pricing details<\/a>), was originally due to expire at the end of this month.
