Reports indicated that the UK broadband and mobile giant, BT<\/a> Group, will freeze the base pay of its CEO, Philip Jansen, at \u00a31.1m – to be renewed on a rolling basis – until he leaves the company. Mr Jansen’s annual salary was fixed for 5 years when he joined, but this agreement was due to expire.<\/p>\n

According to Sky News<\/a>, the decision is expected to be confirmed when BT<\/a> publishes its next annual report, which is expected imminently. The move comes shortly after the operator revealed that it was planning to cut up to 55,000 more jobs (about 40% of their entire 130,000 strong workforce) by the end of this decade (here<\/a>), although a big chunk of that is likely to reflect the unavoidable end of their national “full fibre” (FTTP<\/a>) rollout via network access provider Openreach<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In total, BT<\/a> Group’s CEO was paid \u00a33.089 million during the operator’s last financial year. In prior years, we’ve seen his total pay yo-yo between levels of \u00a33.35m to \u00a32.6m.<\/p>\n
