This has required extensive engineering work to fully repair.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malvernobserver.co.uk\/news\/major-damage-to-broadband-infrastructure-leaves-residents-and-businesses-without-internet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malvern Observer<\/a>, five underground cables in St Andrews Road sustained &#8220;<em>quite a lot of damage<\/em>&#8221; in the incident (see picture &#8211; top), which took place on Wednesday (5th July 2023). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a> has since confirmed to us that this was caused by a &#8220;<em>faulty underground power cable<\/em>&#8220;. Engineers have been working flat out since to repair the damaged section.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a> said: &#8220;<em>We understand that being without broadband is hugely disruptive for everyday life, and would like to reassure local people that we\u2019re doing all we can to reconnect them as quickly as possible<\/em>.&#8221; The network operator has since informed us that the majority of the work is now done, with most people being reconnected.
