Mobile operator and UK ISP Vodafone<\/a> has today released their Q2 FY24 financial results, which saw their fixed line broadband base grow more slowly to total 1.292 million customers (up by 27k in the Q2 vs 42k in Q1 FY24), while their mobile base increased to 18.242 million (up by 218k vs 104k in the previous quarter).<\/p>\n

In terms of their UK fixed broadband base, the operator has continued to report good but slowing growth with a quarterly addition of 27,000 customers – thanks in part to being widely available across both Openreach<\/a>’s and CityFibre<\/a>’s national networks (i.e. their full fibre FTTP<\/a> network coverage now reaches a combined 13.2 million UK households).<\/p>\n

As for their mobile base, Vodafone<\/a> reported a quarterly jump of 17,000 Pay Monthly customers (up sharply from the fall of -66,000 last quarter) and a sharp rise of 380,000 in Prepaid \/ PAYG customers (up from 170k last quarter). In addition, quarterly mobile broadband (data) usage across their UK network increased slightly to 457,580 TeraBytes<\/strong> (up from 428,072 TB last quarter).<\/p>\n

Vodafone<\/a>’s digital prepaid sub-brand VOXI<\/a> also continued to grow as part of this, with 72,000 customers added during the H1 period.<\/p>\n

Margherita Della Valle, Vodafone Group CEO, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“During the first half of the year, we have delivered improved revenue growth in nearly all of our markets and have returned to growth in Germany in the second quarter.<\/p>\n

Vodafone’s transformation is progressing. Our focus on customers and simplifying our business is beginning to bear fruit, although much more needs to be done. We have also announced transactions to strengthen our position in the UK and exit the challenging Spanish market in order to right-size our portfolio for growth.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Finally, the operator saw their quarterly UK service revenue increase to \u20ac1,421m (up from \u20ac1,401m in the previous quarter). The full report is here<\/a> (PDF).<\/p>\n
