{"id":35267,"date":"2023-07-31T11:12:06","date_gmt":"2023-07-31T10:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=35267"},"modified":"2023-07-31T11:16:40","modified_gmt":"2023-07-31T10:16:40","slug":"nperf-rank-three-uk-top-in-2023-benchmark-of-mobile-networks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/07\/nperf-rank-three-uk-top-in-2023-benchmark-of-mobile-networks.html","title":{"rendered":"nPerf Rank Three UK Top in 2023 Benchmark of Mobile Networks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Benchmarking firm <a href=\"https:\/\/media.nperf.com\/files\/publications\/GB\/2023-07-31_mobile-connections-survey-nPerf-H2-2022-H1-2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nPerf<\/a> has just published the results from their annual 2023 crowdsourced study into UK mobile broadband (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/5g\">5G<\/a>) performance, which sees <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/threeuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Three UK<\/a> taking the crown of best mobile network operator from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>) for the first time. On the flip side, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/o2uk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">O2<\/a> (VMO2) came last, which is becoming somewhat of a trend.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The results are based off <strong>98,072 connection tests<\/strong> (down from 126,479 last year) conducted between 1st July 2022 and 30th June 2023 (including download \/ upload speeds, latency, web browsing and streaming tests etc.), which were made via their dedicated mobile app (iOS, Android). The data was then aggregated to establish a performance benchmark.<\/p>\n<p>The nPerf score aims to reflect the actual customer experience of each operator as closely as possible. As usual, there are caveats to this sort of data, such as the fact that it could be impacted by any limitations of the devices being used, and it hampers the ability to adopt a common type of hardware in order to establish a solid baseline of performance. But those caveats are shared by all operators in the study.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2020 it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> that secured the highest score in this study, although in 2021 it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> that took the win and this continued into 2022. But last year&#8217;s study also indicated that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/threeuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Three UK<\/a> was beginning to threaten <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a>\u2019s position, and this year has seen them take the top spot for the first time with 89,037 nPoints (EE scored 85,690, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> got 74,673 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/o2uk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">O2<\/a> came last on 63,506).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" style=\"padding: 0px; width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/wp-content\/gallery\/2023-uk-internet-statistics\/nperf_uk_mobile_performance_awards_2023.png\" alt=\"nperf_uk_mobile_performance_awards_2023\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Benchmarking firm nPerf has just published the results from their annual 2023 crowdsourced study into UK mobile broadband (4G, 5G) performance, which sees Three UK taking the crown of best mobile network operator from EE (BT) for the first time.
