{"id":35393,"date":"2023-08-11T09:00:36","date_gmt":"2023-08-11T08:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=35393"},"modified":"2023-08-10T21:14:30","modified_gmt":"2023-08-10T20:14:30","slug":"broadband-isp-and-uk-altnet-1310-acquires-txrx-communications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/08\/broadband-isp-and-uk-altnet-1310-acquires-txrx-communications.html","title":{"rendered":"Broadband ISP and UK AltNet 1310 Acquires TxRx Communications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Broadband ISP <a href=\"https:\/\/1310.io\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1310<\/a> (&#8220;<em>thirteen-ten<\/em>&#8220;), which offers full fibre services via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a>\u2019s national network and is also building its own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a> network across parts of Hampshire (England), has this morning announced that they&#8217;ve acquired UK communications provider <a href=\"https:\/\/txrxcomms.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TxRx Communications<\/a> Ltd to accelerate growth and broaden their services.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Established in 2018 by Simon Green, James Rossell, and Robert Belgrave, 1310 initially started life by offering services to UK homes and businesses via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a>&#8217;s national network. But since 2021 they&#8217;ve also been deploying their own fibre infrastructure, as well as utilising various other wholesale networks to reach new areas.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> The name 1310 is inspired by one of the common wavelengths of light (1310 nanometres) used in single mode fibre cables. Meanwhile, TxRx reflects network terminology &#8211; &#8220;TX&#8221; being an abbreviation for &#8220;<em>Transmit<\/em>&#8220;, and &#8220;RX&#8221; for &#8220;<em>Receive<\/em>&#8220;.<\/div>\n<p>The last build update we had from 1310 was almost a year ago (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/09\/isp-1310-cuts-uk-broadband-prices-and-updates-on-fttp-build.html\">here<\/a>), which revealed that their new <strong>Fibre-to-the-Premises<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>) network had reached a total of around 6,000 premises passed. The deployment itself started during 2021 in the South Farnborough and North Camp areas of Hampshire, but since then they\u2019ve also covered the town of Rothwell and have begun to build in Basingstoke.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, TxRx is an established ISP in the Basingstoke area and has also been providing gigabit-capable internet connectivity solutions around parts of Farnborough, which helps to explain 1310&#8217;s interest in the provider.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>James Rossell, Director of 1310 Limited, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the support and experience of the combined team, TxRx and 1310 will be able to offer our customers access to newer and alternative fibre technologies, including Fibre to the Premises (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>), Fibre to the Cabinet (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a>) and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) to the hardest-to-reach rural areas.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Tim Robinson, Founder of TxRx, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;TxRx customers can rest assured that I will continue to play a key role as a director of the combined company, and I am really looking forward to providing the same level of personalised service to both TxRx\u2019s and 1310\u2019s customers.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The hope is that the merger of two similar organisations with complimentary technologies and skillsets &#8211; as well as an acceptably geeky eye for company names \ud83d\ude42 &#8211; will enable the combined team to provide a faster and broader portfolio of reliable connectivity options for their customers.<\/p>\n<p>No details about the financial side of the transaction have been disclosed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Broadband ISP 1310 (&#8220;thirteen-ten&#8220;), which offers full fibre services via Openreach\u2019s national network and is also building its own FTTP network across parts of Hampshire (England), has this morning announced that they&#8217;ve acquired UK communications provider TxRx Communications Ltd to accelerate growth and broaden their services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":32226,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[472,56,431],"class_list":["post-35393","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uk_isp_news","tag-business","tag-fttp","tag-hampshire"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"","error":""},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 -
