Artists Emma and Hollie of Community Murals have continued their efforts to tackle graffiti on the Isle of Wight, not least by working with councils and broadband ISP WightFibre<\/a> to paint more of the operator’s full fibre street cabinets with attractive murals. The latest ones can be found in parts of Newport, such as the bus station.<\/p>\n

The operator, which is currently investing \u00a394m to fuel their \u201cGigabit Island Project<\/em>\u201d that aims to roll out a full fibre broadband network across the island (they’ve already completed 57,000 premises), has already allowed Community Murals to paint cabinets in parts of Ryde<\/strong>, and they’re now doing the same in the town of Newport<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> The provider, which is backed by investment from Infracapital, previously aimed to cover around 78,000 homes and businesses with their FTTP<\/a> network \u2013 roughly 96% of all premises on the island \u2013 by the end of 2023.<\/div>\n

WightFibre<\/a> and Community Murals are now looking ahead at planning future commissions for street cabinets and are welcoming ideas from the public of notably placed ones. The ongoing project hopes to “infuse local areas with colour and creativity, whilst deterring anti-social behaviours such as graffiti<\/em>.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
