{"id":37141,"date":"2024-02-12T11:14:24","date_gmt":"2024-02-12T11:14:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=37141"},"modified":"2024-02-13T08:37:46","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T08:37:46","slug":"virgin-media-fibrus-and-vodafone-top-nperf-uk-broadband-speed-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/02\/virgin-media-fibrus-and-vodafone-top-nperf-uk-broadband-speed-survey.html","title":{"rendered":"Virgin Media, Fibrus and Vodafone Top nPerf UK Broadband Speed Survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>European benchmarking firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nperf.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nPerf<\/a> has just published the results from their annual 2024 crowdsourced study into UK fixed broadband ISP performance, which finds that subscribers of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vm\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Virgin Media<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fibrus\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Fibrus<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> enjoyed the best internet connection performances over the past year.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The nPerf study is said to be based on thousands of tests carried out exclusively by the operators&#8217; end-customers &#8211; using tools on both their website and via dedicated mobile apps, which are said to reflect the &#8220;<em>real experience of the general public in the United Kingdom<\/em>&#8221; on the various internet networks.<\/p>\n<p>As usual, there are caveats to this sort of data, such as the fact that it could be impacted by any limitations of the devices being used, slow Wi-Fi networks, the customer&#8217;s choice of package speed or the remote testing servers themselves, but those issues are at least shared by all of the operators in this study.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, nPerf&#8217;s report, which covers the whole of last year (01\/01\/2023 to 31\/12\/2023), only seems to include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> (inc. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/plusnetuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Plusnet<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fibrus\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Fibrus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/bskyb\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Sky Broadband<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vm\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Virgin Media<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a>. But quite why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fibrus\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Fibrus<\/a> is included and others with a larger customer base (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/hyperopticfibre\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Hyperoptic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/communityfibre\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">CommunityFibre<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/zen_internet\" target=\"_blank\">Zen Internet<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/kcom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">KCOM<\/a>) are not remains unclear.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, the key results can be found below, although lumping <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/plusnetuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Plusnet<\/a> together does confuse matters a little bit. We&#8217;re also unsure why Fibrus, which is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>-only provider, has different speeds in two tables (fixed line general vs fixed line <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ftth\">FTTH<\/a>) &#8211; some context appears to be missing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" style=\"padding: 0px; width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/wp-content\/gallery\/2024-uk-internet-statistics\/nPerf-UK-Fixed-Broadband-Performance-Study-2024.webp\" alt=\"nPerf-UK-Fixed-Broadband-Performance-Study-2024\"><\/p>\n<p>In addition, it&#8217;s noted that the average fixed download speed in the United Kingdom (195Mbps) also managed to exceed that of countries like Sweden (148Mbps), Germany (113Mbps) or Austria (106.5Mbps).
