{"id":38094,"date":"2024-07-25T07:37:41","date_gmt":"2024-07-25T06:37:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=38094"},"modified":"2024-07-25T07:37:41","modified_gmt":"2024-07-25T06:37:41","slug":"vodafone-tops-1-43-million-uk-broadband-and-18-57m-mobile-customers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/07\/vodafone-tops-1-43-million-uk-broadband-and-18-57m-mobile-customers.html","title":{"rendered":"Vodafone Tops 1.43 Million UK Broadband and 18.57M Mobile Customers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mobile network operator and UK ISP <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-90\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"vodafone\">Vodafone<\/a> has today published their Q1 FY25 financial results, which reveals that their fixed broadband base grew again to total 1.427 million customers (up by 44k in Q1 vs 52k in the Q4 FY24) and their mobile base fell a bit to total 18.567 million (down by -71k in Q1 vs +66k in Q4 FY24).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In terms of their UK fixed broadband services, the operator has continued to report strong growth, with a quarterly addition of 44,000 customers &#8211; thanks in part to being widely available across both <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-46 shortlink-chref\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"openreach\" data-chref=\"https:\/\/www.openreach.co.uk\">Openreach<\/a>&#8217;s and <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-71 shortlink-chref\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"cityfibre\" data-chref=\"https:\/\/www.cityfibre.com\">CityFibre<\/a>&#8217;s national networks. The provider&#8217;s full fibre <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-110 shortlink-chref\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"fttp\" data-chref=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/broadband_fibre_optic.php\">FTTP<\/a> network coverage can now reach a combined total of 16.2 million UK households (up from 15.3m last quarter).<\/p>\n<p>As for their mobile base, <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-90\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"vodafone\">Vodafone<\/a> reported a quarterly fall of -29,000 in Pay Monthly customers (vs a decline of -9k last quarter) and a decrease of -42,000 in Prepaid \/ PAYG customers (vs +75k added last quarter). Meanwhile, the operator&#8217;s digital prepaid sub-brand, <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-92\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/voxi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"voxi\">VOXI<\/a>, continued to grow, with +17,000 extra customers added in the quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, quarterly mobile broadband (data) usage across their UK network increased to <strong>455,695 TeraBytes<\/strong> (up from 439,462 TB last quarter), which is a positive change after the previous quarter&#8217;s unusual fall, but it still doesn&#8217;t quite get us back to the 461,048 TB seen in Q3 FY24.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> The Data usage figure above represents the sum of downlink and uplink traffic, all APNs (e.g. web, wap, corporate APNs, MMS), femto traffic (if applicable), inbound roamers and MVNOs &#8211; excluding data resulting from voice over LTE traffic.<\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Margherita Della Valle, Vodafone Group CEO, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our performance in the first quarter is consistent with our full year guidance, which we reiterate today. We continue to deliver strong revenue growth in Africa and Turkey, whilst lower inflation is slowing revenue growth in Europe and accelerating Group EBITDAaL growth. Service revenue for the Group grew 5.4%, although in Germany we saw an expected service revenue decline, following the ongoing impact of the TV law change.<\/p>\n<p>During the last few months, we have announced the final step in reducing our stake in Vantage Towers to 50% for \u20ac1.3 billion and commenced our \u20ac2 billion share buyback programme following the sale of Spain. We continue to progress our transactions in Italy and the UK as well as the broader transformation of Vodafone, focused on customer experience, Business growth and operational execution in Germany. The actions we are taking now will deliver improved performance and underpin the turnaround of Vodafone.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Finally, the operator saw their quarterly UK service revenue reach \u20ac1,429m (up from \u20ac1,409m in the previous quarter).
