Alternative network provider Pulse Fibre<\/a>, which recently revealed that they\u2019re aiming to complete over 250,000 unique \u201cfull fibre<\/em>\u201d (FTTP<\/a>) broadband connections into new build dwellings (here<\/a>), has today announced the launch of their own wholesale platform for retail ISPs to harness.<\/p>\n

At present we still don’t know much about Pulse Fibre\u2019s plan to implement their own 10Gbps capable \u201cend-to-end dedicated fibre optic network<\/em>\u201d to residential properties. But direct customers of the service can expect to pay from \u00a330 per month for a 100Mbps (symmetric) broadband package (plus \u00a329.99 one-off for setup), which rises to \u00a360 for their top 1Gbps tier with free setup. All packages attract a 12-month minimum contract term.<\/p>\n

The big news this morning is that the altnet has announced the launch of their own “cutting-edge wholesale platform<\/em>” for the network, which is available to all Internet Service Providers (ISP). “By leveraging Pulse Fibre\u2019s infrastructure, ISPs can now tap into new markets and provide high-speed internet services to previously underserved areas<\/em>,” said the announcement.<\/p>\n

Sean Pearman, Technical Director at Pulse Fibre, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to introduce this platform after years of development and consultation, to bridge the gap between service providers and network operators. We look forward to bringing the Pulse Fibre benefits to a wider audience. All of our ISPs will be able to provide day one connectivity to new homeowners and symmetrical speeds up to 10Gb.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The challenge being that quite a few ISPs prefer the networks they’re harnessing to have a modest degree of coverage first, as well as attractive commercials, which is always a tougher sell for networks that are fairly new and more vertically integrated.
