Meanwhile the investigation into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>&#8217;s initial competition complaint against Sky will continue.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The situation stems from a competition complaint lodged by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> on <strong>24th May 2013<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2013\/06\/bt-and-sky-in-fresh-uk-competition-spat-over-tv-sports-channels.html\" target=\"_blank\">full details<\/a>), which simply claimed that Sky had made the supply of its key sports channels conditional upon BT offering wholesale access of their own <strong>BTSport<\/strong> content to Sky\u2019s retail and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/satellite\">satellite<\/a> platform.<\/p>\n<p>BT felt this was unfair because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a>&#8217;s similar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/youview\" target=\"_blank\">YouView<\/a> platform could access <strong>Sky Sports<\/strong> on &#8220;<em>fair terms<\/em>&#8220;, although admittedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a> doesn&#8217;t have any sport content of its own like BTSport. The operator had hoped to secure a temporary solution through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a> before yesterday\u2019s BTSport launch (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2013\/08\/free-bt-sport-tv-service-goes-live-today-for-broadband-customers.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>), which is being offered for free to BT Broadband subscribers, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a> rejected that request.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Ofcoms Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>On 31 July 2013, Ofcom refused BT\u2019s application for interim measures.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We are continuing with our investigation of BT\u2019s Complaint. In the initial phase of the investigation in Summer 2013, we expect to gather further information using our powers under the Competition Act 1998, and to analyse this information. We expect this initial analysis to inform consideration of whether and how to proceed further with the investigation, during Autumn\/Winter 2013.
