Edinburgh-based alternative network provider GoFibre<\/a> (BorderLink<\/a>), which has already rolled out their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP<\/a>) broadband network to 100,000 rural premises across the North England and the Scottish Borders, has today celebrated the first anniversary of their \u00a350,000 GoFurther charity fund by awarding more projects.<\/p>\n

Just to recap. The GoFurther Fund<\/strong> offers grants of up to \u00a33,000 to help local charity projects and community organisations in the regions of Aberdeenshire, Angus, Fife, East Lothian and the Scottish Borders etc. So far they’ve already awarded around \u00a315k to various different organisations and today three more (total of \u00a39k) were added – The Haven<\/a> (Aberdeenshire) – \u00a33,000, Kirrie Connections<\/a> (Angus) – \u00a33,000 and North East Sensory Services<\/a> (Angus) – \u00a33,000.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> GoFibre<\/a> aims to cover 500,000 premises by around the end of 2025 and is supported by an investment of \u00a3164m<\/strong> from Gresham House (here<\/a>). The operator also holds the Project Gigabit contracts for Teesdale<\/a> (Lot 4.01) and North Northumberland<\/a> (Lot 34.01).<\/div>\n

For a bit of context, The Haven<\/strong> offers a wide range of free activities to combat social isolation in Stonehaven, while Kirrie Connections<\/strong> is a dementia support hub in Kirriemuir and North East Sensory Services<\/strong> (NESS) provides the first integrated sensory services for people with sight or hearing loss across Angus.<\/p>\n

Neil Conaghan, CEO of GoFibre<\/a>, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Customers of the GoFibre<\/a>’s network can expect to pay from \u00a336 per month (currently discounted to \u00a329) for a 135Mbps (25Mbps upload) package on a 24-month term with an included wireless router, which rises to \u00a369 per month (currently discounted to \u00a349) for their top 900Mbps (100Mbps upload) plan.
