Merseyside-based broadband ISP BeFibre<\/a>, which sells packages to consumers and businesses via FullFibre Limited’s gigabit speed UK Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP<\/a>) network, has revealed that they’re aiming to introduce new multi-gigabit speed Wi-Fi 7 routers and extenders by Q2 2025 as part of a new deal with Switzerland<\/span>-based Heights Telecom<\/a> (Heights Telecom UK Ltd)<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The strategic partnership, which will this year start with the introduction of a more traditional Wi-Fi 6 router and extender hardware, looks as if it might replace or supplement BeFibre<\/a>’s existing CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) relationship that has seen them harnessing Wi-Fi 6 routers from Linksys<\/strong>. But it’s the Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) kit from Heights Telecom that carries most interest.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> FullFibre Ltd’s network currently reaches 380,000 premises (RFS) across England and is available to parts of Derbyshire, Essex, Gloucestershire, Greater Manchester, Herefordshire, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Merseyside, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, South Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.<\/div>\n

At this stage we don’t know exactly which models of WiFi<\/a> 6 or 7 routers and extenders BeFibre<\/a> are planning to field from Heights Telecom over the next few months, but they all look like fairly capable kit. The only downside is that the manufacturer isn’t a familiar name to UK consumers, and only time will tell how well they compare with the provider’s current crop of kit.<\/p>\n

Louise Elliott, BeFibre<\/a>’s Chief Customer and Operations Officer, said (Fibre Provider<\/a>):<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Beginning this partnership with Heights Telecom will ensure that our customers can access the best connectivity experiences. This will redefine the local market and deliver on our promise of broadband as it should be for all of our customers.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

BeFibre is only the latest ISP after others, like EE<\/a> and Zen Internet<\/a>, to announce plans for the future launch of Wi-Fi 7 routers. The first customers to benefit from the new kit will be those on their top 900Mbps and 2.3Gbps tiers (the latter doesn’t appear to have launched yet).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
