ISPreview has today published a 2025 summary of the top ten full fibre broadband (FTTP<\/a>) operators with the largest share of the UK new build homes market, which is naturally a table that ends up being dominated by the market\u2019s biggest network provider – Openreach<\/a> (BT<\/a>), followed by Hyperoptic<\/a> and others.<\/p>\n

At present, somewhere around 99% of new build homes are constructed with support for Fibre-to-the-Premises<\/strong> (FTTP<\/a>) infrastructure (here<\/a>), which has been fairly steady for the past 2-3 years but is up from c.60% in 2017 (here<\/a>). Just for comparison, around 78% of all UK premises (new builds and existing properties) can access such a network today (here<\/a>) and that rises to nearly 88% for gigabit-capable broadband (FTTP<\/a> + Hybrid Fibre Coax).<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> The following list is purely focused on new build homes created with full fibre coverage \u2013 it does NOT include those only served by other technologies (FTTC<\/a>, ADSL<\/a> etc.). If any operators feel they’ve been missed out or are not showing a correct result, then please contact Andrew at Thinkbroadband<\/a> to help fill in the blanks.<\/div>\n

Suffice to say that a lot of progress has been made over the past few years, with England, Scotland and Wales now effectively all mandating gigabit-capable broadband for almost all new build homes (here<\/a>, here<\/a> and here<\/a>), albeit with a few exceptions.<\/p>\n

However, we also find it informative to do an annual check to see which full fibre operators are having the most impact on new build homes, which involves an analysis of information extracted from Thinkbroadband<\/a>’s excellent coverage database.<\/p>\n

Top UK Full Fibre Operators for New Build Homes (FY 2024\/25)<\/span>
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The table below summarises both the largest ten operators for new build homes over the past year. Naturally, there are some caveats with this data. For example, some very recent builds may be too new to have been spotted. This is because it takes a lot of time and effort to identify everything, thus the latest data may sometimes lag a few months behind the reality.<\/p>\n

In addition, some tiny or individual developments may also be missed (e.g. personal projects or property conversions) and the availability of new postcode data can cause a further lag. On top of that, Thinkbroadband<\/a> only identifies live (Ready for Service) lines, which means completed builds where the service is available to take from an ISP.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> The data for 2025 is no longer aligned to past studies, so we haven’t included the previous year’s figures.<\/div>\n

Openreach<\/a> is naturally top of the table as the UK’s largest full fibre network operator, followed by Hyperoptic<\/a>, with other players in the market – even major networks like Virgin Media<\/a> – all sitting some way behind. But we note that Virgin’s influence was much more significant in the past, and yet they seem to be struggling to deliver on that in the newer era of full fibre connectivity.<\/p>\n

We should also add that OFNL has recently signed a deal to acquire FibreNest, thus in the future these two will be combined, which may or may not increase their annual pace of deployment to new build homes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
