{"id":39672,"date":"2024-10-09T11:17:38","date_gmt":"2024-10-09T10:17:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=39672"},"modified":"2024-10-09T11:17:38","modified_gmt":"2024-10-09T10:17:38","slug":"cni-boosts-broadband-infrastructure-sharing-with-assethub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/10\/cni-boosts-broadband-infrastructure-sharing-with-assethub.html","title":{"rendered":"CNI Boosts Broadband Infrastructure Sharing with AssetHub"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cni.coop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cooperative Network Infrastructure<\/a> scheme in Tameside, Blackpool, Manchester and Sussex (England), which helps to enable the commercial re-use of existing local authority owned cable ducts and fibre to aid the roll-out of gigabit-capable broadband, has made it easier to share related assets (fibre, street furniture etc.) via a new partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asset-hub.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AssetHUB<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Asset reuse specialist AssetHUB states that this means its platform, which acts a bit like an open access &#8220;<em>\u2018shop window\u2019 of digital assets<\/em>&#8220;, can now be used by all of CNI&#8217;s 50 members (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vm\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Virgin Media<\/a>, Zayo, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/itstechnology\" target=\"_blank\">ITS Technology<\/a>, F&amp;W Networks and others) to manage incoming enquiries regarding their fibre and other infrastructure assets.<\/p>\n<p>Both organisations have also been jointly working with the Independent Network Cooperative Association (INCA) to encourage alternative networks to share physical infrastructure, such as in locations where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a>&#8217;s own cable ducts and poles might not be available. A related trial is directly available for all INCA members in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/02\/broadband-altnets-setup-new-uk-infrastructure-sharing-group.html\">Infrastructure Sharing Group<\/a> (ISG) for pole, duct and cabinet space sharing.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>CNI Chair, Tony Doyle, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSharing infrastructure is critical, otherwise Altnets will have to lay more fibre or add new poles, resulting in more customer disruption, wasted investment, unnecessary carbon emissions and expenditure.
