{"id":40992,"date":"2025-02-25T08:00:36","date_gmt":"2025-02-25T08:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=40992"},"modified":"2025-02-24T12:48:41","modified_gmt":"2025-02-24T12:48:41","slug":"london-ranks-bottom-in-medux-test-of-uk-and-eu-5g-mobile-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/02\/london-ranks-bottom-in-medux-test-of-uk-and-eu-5g-mobile-performance.html","title":{"rendered":"London Ranks Bottom in MedUX Test of UK and EU 5G Mobile Performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Network testing and benchmarking firm <a href=\"https:\/\/medux.com\/blog\/londons-5g-dilemma-ee-outshines-locally-londons-average-experience-worst-among-european-cities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MedUX<\/a> has today previewed a new study, which examined the performance and quality of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/5g\">5G<\/a> (mobile broadband) networks from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/o2uk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">O2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/threeuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Three UK<\/a> across London. Sadly the results, which also tested 14 other major European cities, put the UK&#8217;s capital at the very bottom of the table.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The measurement campaign is said to have consisted of drive tests that were conducted during Q2 and Q4 2024 in 15 major cities across Europe, covering more than 5,500km and 1,700km2 to understand how mobile operators cover the most important European capitals. The tests, which involved several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/5g\">5G<\/a> Standalone capable Smartphones, measured network availability, accessibility, download \/ upload speeds (broadband), gaming and more to reach a <strong>QoE<\/strong> (Quality of Experience) score.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> MedUX&#8217;s team conducted a total of 19,065 tests while in London.<\/div>\n<p>The research revealed that Porto and Stockholm share the top spot in Europe for overall QoE, a measure of user satisfaction, each scoring 4.78 out of 5. By comparison, London sits firmly at the bottom of the table for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/5g\">5G<\/a> performance (the same as they did last year), and was also found to have one of the lowest levels of 5G availability.<\/p>\n<p>The full report is due to be published at MWC25 in Barcelona (Spain) on Monday 3rd March, although it&#8217;s formatted in quite a tedious way, which makes it difficult to summarise in a deeper way that would make sense.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" style=\"padding: 0px; width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/wp-content\/gallery\/2025-uk-internet-statistics\/MedUX-5G-QoE-Scores-for-15-EU-and-UK-Cities.webp\" alt=\"MedUX-5G-QoE-Scores-for-15-EU-and-UK-Cities\"><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" style=\"padding: 0px; width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/wp-content\/gallery\/2025-uk-internet-statistics\/MedUX-5G-Availability-15-EU-and-UK-Cities-Final.webp\" alt=\"MedUX-5G-Availability-15-EU-and-UK-Cities-Final\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Network testing and benchmarking firm MedUX has today previewed a new study, which examined the performance and quality of 5G (mobile broadband) networks from EE, O2, Vodafone and Three UK across London.
