Infracapital-backed UK ISP Ogi<\/a>, which is rolling out a 10Gbps capable full fibre (FTTP<\/a>) broadband network across South Wales (110,000 RFS premises passed by end of 2024), has today announced that they’ve released another batch of grants – worth around \u00a35,000 – as part of their \u201cCefnogi<\/em>\u201d community support fund for local projects.<\/p>\n

The community support fund (\u201cCefnogi<\/em>\u201d) typically offers grants worth up to \u00a3500, and volunteering hours, to local grassroots community groups to help them \u201cexplore innovative approaches for promoting technology<\/em>\u201c – focused on areas where Ogi<\/a> have been building their new network.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> Ogi<\/a> is home to over 20,000 customers (13th May 2024) and backed by \u00a3200m via Infracapital, as well as a \u00a345m financing package from Cardiff Capital Region (here<\/a>). The ISP employs c.150-200 staff and originally aimed to cover 150,000 premises in South Wales by 2025.<\/div>\n

The winning projects this time around include Scout camping trips, BBQs for veterans, social breakfasts and a nature-based well-being programme \u2013 “all helping to ease loneliness, build confidence and bring people together in real life<\/em>,” said the provider.<\/p>\n

For example, the Pembrokeshire Vikings \u2013 a mixed-ability rugby team led by former Scarlets and Ospreys prop Simon Gardiner, secured a grant that will go towards a West Wales inclusive sports day, giving local children the chance to try out adapted sports for the first time.<\/p>\n

Caldicot Town Team<\/strong> \u2013 for their dementia puzzle library<\/p>\n

Redberth Croft<\/strong> \u2013 to run a series of workshops supporting veterans, individuals with additional learning needs and other vulnerable groups<\/p>\n

Barry Veterans Group<\/strong> \u2013 to fund their weekly breakfast initiative<\/p>\n

1st Bulwark Scouts<\/strong> \u2013 for the replacement of damaged equipment<\/p>\n

Pembrokeshire Vikings<\/strong> \u2013 to assist in set-up costs for their Inclusive Sports Day<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
