Hampshire-based alternative network operator and UK ISP toob<\/a>, which has built a gigabit speed full fibre (FTTP<\/a>) broadband network across parts of South England and also harnesses CityFibre<\/a>\u2019s network in other areas, has this morning announced that they’ve just added 33 new towns and cities (1.1 million additional premises) to their coverage via CityFibre<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The alternative network operator is currently being financed through equity from funds managed and advised by the Amber Infrastructure Group<\/strong>, as well as a large amount of debt financing provided by Ares Management\u2019s Infrastructure Debt<\/strong> (here<\/a>). At the end of 2023 this mix of equity and debt reflected a total commitment of \u00a3395 million.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> Toob<\/a>\u2019s own-built fibre currently covers an estimated 256,500 premises<\/a> (Sept 2025). The operator aims to cover a total of 300,000 premises with its own fibre (on-net) and they have 100,000 customers (60k on-net).<\/div>\n

However, toob<\/a> both builds their own Fibre-to-the-Premises<\/strong> (FTTP<\/a>) infrastructure and also holds a network partnership with CityFibre<\/a>, with the latter helping to expand their coverage well beyond what they\u2019ve already built (CF also gained reciprocal access to toob<\/a>\u2019s network). As a result of today\u2019s development, toob\u2019s packages can now be purchased in many towns and cities across a total of 33 additional UK locations (1.1 million more homes).<\/p>\n

This latest expansion includes Aberdeen, Blackpool, Bolton, Clacton-on-Sea, Chester, Crawley, Dundee, Edinburgh, Elderslie, Johnstone & Paisley, Gateshead, Glasgow, Great Wakering, Halifax, Hartlepool, High Wycombe, Horsham, Inverness, Middlesbrough, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, North Tyneside, Plymouth, Preston , Rochford, Rochdale, Southend-on-Sea, St Helens, Stirling, Stratford-upon-Avon, Sunderland, Sudbury, Wakefield, Weston-super-Mare and Worcester.<\/p>\n

Toob is currently only charging new customers from just \u00a318 per month for symmetric speeds of 150Mbps and just \u00a325 for 1Gbps on an 18-month term, which includes unlimited usage, a wireless router, free installations and a promise of no in-contract price hikes.
