{"id":43308,"date":"2025-10-01T07:39:05","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T06:39:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=43308"},"modified":"2025-10-01T16:10:48","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T15:10:48","slug":"cityfibre-report-730k-uk-broadband-customers-as-fttp-covers-4-6m-premises","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/10\/cityfibre-report-730k-uk-broadband-customers-as-fttp-covers-4-6m-premises.html","title":{"rendered":"CityFibre Report 730K UK Broadband Customers as FTTP Covers 4.6M Premises"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UK&#8217;s largest alternative full fibre (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>) broadband ISP network, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a>, has today published their latest results and revealed that they now cover 4.6 million premises (4.3m RFS) and have seen record growth in customer connections, with 108,000 customers connected in Q3 2025 (up from 58k in Q2) to total 730,000.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a> has long aspired to reach up to 8 million UK premises \u2013 representing c.30% of the UK, but their original target of hitting that by the end of 2025 will be missed. Instead, they\u2019ve more recently been looking to boost coverage via greater consolidation of rival networks (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/03\/cityfibre-to-acquire-connexins-uk-fttp-broadband-network.html\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/05\/cityfibre-completes-uk-fibre-broadband-acquisition-of-lit-fibre.html\">here<\/a>) and coverage expansion under c.\u00a3860m worth of <strong>Project Gigabit<\/strong> contracts (state aid), while also having to deal with some of the same pressures as many other networks (e.g. high interest rates, rising build costs and competition).<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> The operator is owned by Antin Infrastructure Partners, Goldman Sachs, Mubadala Investment Company, Interogo Holding etc. The network is supported by UK ISPs such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/zen_internet\" target=\"_blank\">Zen Internet<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/bskyb\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Sky Broadband<\/a> and more (local ISP availability does vary).<\/div>\n<p>Despite those challenges, the operator recently secured a crucial UK funding agreement worth \u00a32.3bn (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/07\/cityfibre-agrees-2-3bn-funding-deal-to-boost-uk-full-fibre-broadband.html\">here<\/a>) and also saw major ISP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/bskyb\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Sky Broadband<\/a> begin to offer services over their network to consumers at speeds of up to 5Gbps (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/07\/sky-broadband-launch-5gbps-uk-broadband-via-cityfibre-and-wifi-7-router.html\">here<\/a>). The latter seems likely to be what has helped to give <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a> a record quarter in customer growth.<\/p>\n<p>The operator has today also reported that their Q3 2025 revenue was \u00a343m, (Q3 2024: \u00a334m), with an annualised run rate of \u00a3172m, up 26% year-on-year. Adjusted EBITDA was \u00a37.6m in Q3 2025, (Q3 2024: \u00a31.4m) up more than five times year-on-year, and now at an annualised run rate of \u00a330m.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Simon Holden, CEO of CityFibre, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur rate of customer growth has real momentum, with our ISP partners making the most of CityFibre\u2019s market-leading services and growing across our full fibre network.<\/p>\n<p>We are proving the strength of CityFibre\u2019s wholesale business model as we reach an inflection point, with our recent financing providing the firepower to significantly expand our reach through acquisitions and bring world-class digital infrastructure to people, businesses and communities across the UK.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As well as posting a limited and somewhat sanitised summary of their latest quarterly results, CityFibre have today also published their annual group accounts to the end of December 2024 (<a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.cityfibre.com\/Documents\/CFIH-Group-2024-Accounts.pdf\">here<\/a>).
