But customers that wish to continue using the service will, from 21st Jan 2026, need to pay \u00a365 a year (or \u00a36.50 per month).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, Manx are by no means the only internet provider to replace their free email platform with a paid or semi-paid one in recent years, with both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/plusnetuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Plusnet<\/a> being two of the most recent UK ISPs to follow a similar sort of trend (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/06\/broadband-isp-plusnet-gives-up-on-free-uk-email-and-webspace-features.html\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/07\/talktalk-cause-confusion-for-some-uk-users-with-paid-email-migration.html\">here<\/a>). Most internet providers stopped advertising email as a package feature many years ago (plenty of freemail choices these days), and thus most of the users that remain are often legacy ones.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> The Isle of Man is a British Crown Dependency in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland.<\/div>\n<p>Manx claims that the move will enable them to &#8220;<em>focus on [their] core telecommunications offerings<\/em>,&#8221; while at the same time appearing to suggest that the transition is also about &#8220;<em>protecting islanders from scams<\/em>&#8220;. But the operator acknowledges that, for over 25 years, it has &#8220;<em>subsidised the Manx.net service, providing it free of charge<\/em>&#8221; and that &#8220;<em>technology and security requirements have evolved significantly<\/em>&#8221; since then.<\/p>\n<p>In short, Manx Telecom indirectly indicates that they&#8217;re no longer willing to acquire the &#8220;<em>increasingly specialised expertise<\/em>&#8221; and commit the extra infrastructure investment necessary to maintain their current approach. As a result, Junara (a brand of Atmail), which has been providing the technical platform for Manx.net for several years, has now assumed full ownership and customer support responsibilities.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>What this means for customers<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you wish to keep your\u202f@manx.net,\u202f@isleofman.com, or\u202f@isleofman.org\u202femail address:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to\u202fwww.manx.net\u202f\u2014 type it directly into your browser (don\u2019t click any email links).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Register with Junara\u202fbetween\u202f21 October 2025 and 20 January 2026.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Choose your plan:\u202f\u00a365 per year (discounted from \u00a379) or \u00a36.50 per month (discounted from \u00a37.50).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Payment options:\u202fRegister now and\u202fpay later (by 20 January 2026), or\u202fpre-pay\u202fduring sign-up.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Once registered and paid, your email service will continue without interruption.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Important dates<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Registration window:\u202f21 October 2025 \u2013 Tuesday 20 January 2026&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Subscription starts:\u202fWednesday 21 January 2026&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Suspension period:\u202f21 January \u2013 20 April 2026&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Permanent deletion:\u202fTuesday 21 April 2026&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Accounts not registered and paid by\u202f<strong>20 January 2026<\/strong>\u202fwill be suspended from\u202f<strong>21 January 2026<\/strong>.&nbsp;<br \/>\nA grace period for reactivation runs until\u202f<strong>20 April 2026<\/strong>, after which accounts will be\u202f<strong>permanently deleted on 21 April 2026<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However, if maintaining your Manx address isn&#8217;t absolutely essential, then a better course of action would be to use this time to adopt one of the many free email (Outlook\/Hotmail, Gmail etc.) platforms that already exist.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Gary Lamb, CEO of Manx Telecom, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been proud to support the Island community with Manx.net for more than two decades. Transitioning the service to Junara, who already power the platform, ensures customers can continue using their @manx.net email address with specialist management.
