In a small but welcome development. Mobile and internet provider giffgaff<\/a> has announced that both new and existing customers of their home broadband products \u2013 powered by nexfibre<\/a>’s UK full fibre network (covers 2.5 million premises) \u2013 will benefit from a change of standard price on their 200Mbps tier that reduces it by -\u00a31 to \u00a329 per month.<\/p>\n

On the surface such a charge is hardly much to write home about, but it’s important to reflect that this isn’t a temporary discount and to underline that they’re reducing the standard monthly price at a time when many other broadband providers have been hiking their prices, often significantly.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> In the future giffgaff<\/a> should also become available in non-nexfibre<\/a> areas that are served by Virgin Media<\/a>\u2019s own separate XGS-PON \/ FTTP<\/a> network, but it\u2019s unclear when that will occur. Virgin are slowly upgrading their old coax areas to support XGS-PON (due to complete by 2028).<\/div>\n

Lest we forget that giffgaff’s broadband packages only attract a basic 30-day minimum contract term and include no setup fees, despite including a wireless router in the package. In addition, existing customers of giffgaff’s mobile plans can apparently also benefit from three months of free service when they sign-up.<\/p>\n

Giffgaff Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019re making a change to our 200mbps broadband plan, bringing it down to \u00a329 from \u00a330. Members already on this plan will automatically be placed on to the new price point at their next renewal.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget that if you\u2019ve been a mobile member with giffgaff since before 1st January, 2026, then you can still take advantage of [the] offer … where you can get three months free broadband if you sign up by 12th April, 2026.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We’ve had another comment from giffgaff.<\/p>\n

A giffgaff spokesperson told ISPreview:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“At giffgaff we\u2019re committed to fairness for our members, and that means providing good value and flexibility across broadband and mobile. We have recently lowered the price of our 200Mbps monthly-rolling full-fibre package from \u00a330 to \u00a329 per month, and all packages can be changed on a monthly basis without penalty, meaning our members can flex up or down each month if they need to.<\/p>\n

At a time when many other bills are rising, we\u2019re also giving new and existing mobile members up to three times extra data for no additional cost. In fact, we\u2019re one of the few mobile providers not to inflict mid-contract price rises on our members, and we haven\u2019t raised any of our SIM plan prices in six years.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
