{"id":44846,"date":"2026-02-23T13:31:17","date_gmt":"2026-02-23T13:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=44846"},"modified":"2026-02-23T13:31:36","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T13:31:36","slug":"totsco-prep-cheaper-uk-biz-broadband-isp-switching-and-stronger-monitoring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/02\/totsco-prep-cheaper-uk-biz-broadband-isp-switching-and-stronger-monitoring.html","title":{"rendered":"TOTSCo Prep Cheaper UK Biz Broadband ISP Switching and Improved Monitoring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/totsco.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">One Touch Switching Company<\/a> (TOTSCo), which is the industry-led company responsible for helping to deliver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a>\u2019s solution for easier and quicker UK switching between fixed broadband and phone providers on different networks (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/09\/ofcom-launch-easier-one-touch-switching-for-uk-broadband-isps.html\"><strong>One Touch Switching<\/strong><\/a>), has provided an update on their plans for 2026 (i.e. cheaper business switching and more performance data).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The OTS system, which went live on 12th September 2024, remains a <strong>Gaining Provider Led<\/strong> (GPL) process, where the customer contacts their new (\u201c<em>gaining<\/em>\u201c) ISP to start and manage the process on their behalf. But despite a bit of a bumpy start and some ongoing issues, which we won\u2019t recap today, the new system is already helping around 1.8 million customers to switch provider every 12-months (<a href=\"https:\/\/totsco.org.uk\/business-switching-price-reductions-and-whats-next-for-ots\/\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a> states that all communications providers switching a UK residential customer\u2019s Internet Access Service and\/or Number-based Interpersonal Communications Service, which is provided at a fixed location, are in scope of their OTS rules, and must follow the OTS process.<\/div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/totsco.org.uk\/business-switching-price-reductions-and-whats-next-for-ots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">latest update<\/a> reveals that TOTSCo are now almost ready to extend beyond <strong>Consumer Switching<\/strong> and support <strong>Business Switching<\/strong> between ISPs too, which was previously said to be due for launch during \u201c<em>early 2026<\/em>\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/07\/totsco-start-onboarding-uk-isps-for-business-broadband-switching.html\">here<\/a>). As part of that work they&#8217;ve now &#8220;<em>revised<\/em>&#8221; their price-list, &#8220;<em>making it more affordable for smaller providers whether accessing the hub directly or through a Managed Access Provider (MAP) and passing on the benefits of cost reduction initiatives<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>The company said they would also &#8220;<em>shortly formalise the Business Switching API<\/em>&#8221; from its current beta version to version 2, which introduces no functional changes but is said to provide a &#8220;<em>clearer, consolidated baseline as we continue to develop the service<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, TOTSCo has promised to deliver &#8220;<em>clearer insight, stronger monitoring and practical improvements<\/em>&#8221; to their central messaging Hub, which includes a plan to &#8220;<em>expand the performance data we share, provide greater visibility of trends and variations, and develop more tailored reporting to support all providers<\/em>&#8220;.
