The CoverageMap.com<\/a> website and supporting Apps, which previously only gave a crowdsourced overview of mobile network (cell) coverage and mobile broadband (4G<\/a>, 5G<\/a>) speeds across the USA, has now been expanded internationally to include data from users in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n

The service, which is similar to other platforms like OpenSignal<\/a>, enables users to search for any city, region, or cellular provider across these areas and see performance insights (e.g. download speed, upload speed, latency, 4G<\/a> [LTE] \/ 5G<\/a> availability, reliability etc.) based on real-world speed tests.<\/p>\n

At present the data for the UK is still limited and initial performance reports are based on over 94,000 speedtests, which is relatively small compared with similar studies from existing platforms, but this is expected to grow over time. The first performance results for the major mobile operators can be seen below, which is topped by EE<\/a> (BT<\/a>), while O2<\/a> puts in the poorest showing.<\/p>\n
