The operator previously stated that they were expecting to have invested around <strong>\u00a3110m<\/strong> by 2030 as part of their ongoing \u201c<em>Gigabit Island Project<\/em>\u201d, which was aiming to extend their full fibre network to reach 96% coverage by the end of 2027 (c.80,000+ premises).<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/wightfibre\">WightFibre<\/a> is backed by Infracapital, which also supports various other alternative broadband networks, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/gigaclear\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Gigaclear<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fibrus\" target=\"_blank\">Fibrus<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/spectruminternet\" target=\"_blank\">Ogi<\/a> etc. The operator has also benefitted from several million pounds worth of gigabit vouchers from the UK government (BDUK).<\/div>\n<p>The latest results confirm that they&#8217;re slowly &#8220;<em>nearing completion<\/em>&#8221; of this major effort, which is despite facing plenty of competition from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a>&#8217;s (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>) roll-out of competing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a> technology. But 2026 will be a particularly notable year because it will see them celebrate &#8220;<em>25 years of connecting the Isle of Wight<\/em>&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/25.wightfibre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>), originally starting as the Isle of Wight Cable and Telephone Company.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, the latest annual accounts show that the company delivered revenues of \u00a39.158m (up 27% from \u00a37.196m in 2024), although losses hit \u00a319.32m (2024: \u00a318.95m) and the company had net liabilities of \u00a375.96m (2024: \u00a356.64m). But the rate of customer acquisition is reported to be running &#8220;<em>ahead of plan<\/em>&#8221; with 36% penetration, which is a strong result given the competition on part of their network (retail price competition from rival ISPs is also a concern).<\/p>\n<p>The other good news is that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/wightfibre\">WightFibre<\/a> delivered a full year of <strong>positive adjusted EBITDA<\/strong> (i.e. earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) of \u00a3951k (2024: -\u00a3673k), which has been helped by their revenue growth and recent cost control measures.
