{"id":47576,"date":"2026-08-07T00:01:33","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T23:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=47576"},"modified":"2026-08-07T06:35:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T05:35:21","slug":"ee-cuts-contract-buyout-to-200-for-new-uk-broadband-customers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/08\/ee-cuts-contract-buyout-to-200-for-new-uk-broadband-customers.html","title":{"rendered":"EE Cuts Contract Buyout to \u00a3200 for New UK Broadband Customers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New customers looking to take a home broadband package from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> may like to know that the ISP has reduced the value of the Contract Buyout (i.e. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/04\/summary-of-the-cash-switching-incentives-offered-by-uk-broadband-isps.html\">Switching Credits<\/a>) they offer from &#8220;<em>up to<\/em>&#8221; \u00a3300 to \u00a3200, except if you take both broadband and a TV bundle in which case the original value is maintained.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Contract buyouts are essentially a special offer that is intended to help customers, those who choose to switch to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a>&#8217;s fixed line service, to cover some or all of the <strong>Early Termination Charges<\/strong> (ETC) that may have been levelled against them by the losing ISP (e.g. general exit fees or cancelling your old contract early, before it has finished, often attracts ETCs).<\/p>\n<p>The value of the buyout will typically vary between packages, hence why we use the wording &#8220;<em>up to<\/em>&#8221; above. Previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a>&#8217;s broadband service offered a contract buyout worth up to \u00a3300, but as of today this has been reduced to \u00a3200 for those only switching to broadband (but it remains at \u00a3300 if you take a broadband and TV bundle).<\/p>\n<p>The new value could be said to more closely match the sort of buyouts being offered by many rival providers and also adds a greater incentive for those who may also wish to bundle EE&#8217;s TV service. On the other hand, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vm\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Virgin Media<\/a> did recently increase their buyout from \u00a3250 and now maxes out at up to \u00a3300, so some providers are still a fair bit above the \u00a3200 level, at least for a short while (the buyout values do change from time to time).<\/p>\n<p>In order to benefit new customers will need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Order and activate EE Broadband.<\/li>\n<li>Email their paid final bill to&nbsp;<a id=\"OWA45cf91ae-ca9e-63d7-2e4f-164d3fe60d77\" href=\"mailto:switch-team@ee.co.uk\" rel=\"nofollow\">switch-team@ee.co.uk<\/a>&nbsp;within 4 months of activation.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure their EE order number is included and the bill clearly shows any early termination charges.<\/li>\n<li>Claims will continue to be validated before the credit is applied to the customer&#8217;s EE account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New customers looking to take a home broadband package from EE may like to know that the ISP has reduced the value of the Contract Buyout (i.e. Switching Credits) they offer from &#8220;up to&#8221; \u00a3300 to \u00a3200, except if you take both broadband and a TV bundle in which case the original value is maintained.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":34752,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[405],"class_list":["post-47576","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uk_isp_news","tag-ee"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/mastodon.social\/@ispreview\/117051057628918197","error":""},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
