Alternative network provider and UK ISP LightSpeed Broadband<\/a>, which has built their full fibre (FTTP<\/a>) network to cover 360,000 premises across the East of England and Midlands (36 towns), has reported their latest annual accounts to the end of December 2025 – revealing that they have 22,000 customers (May 2026) and revenues almost doubled to \u00a34.21m (2024: \u00a32.24m).<\/p>\n

The network provider, which in 2023 was acquired by Kompass Kapital<\/strong> (here<\/a>) after suffering some job cuts and a build slowdown in the East of England (here<\/a>), is currently busy deploying across parts of various market towns in South Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Staffordshire, Cheshire, Cambridgeshire, and Rutland.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> So far as we\u2019re aware, LightSpeed are still aiming to \u201cconnect 400,000 homes and businesses by 2027<\/em>\u201d, although the latest results<\/a> don’t appear to include an update on that ambition.<\/div>\n

According to the accounts, Lightspeed Broadband<\/a> reported incurring a loss after tax of -\u00a315.68m for the year ended 31st December 2025 (2024: increased from -\u00a38m) and they had net liabilities of -\u00a343.01m (2024: -\u00a327.32m). Despite this, “the directors considered the results at the year-end to be satisfactory and intend to pursue strategies that would enhance growth of the company and result in improved performance<\/em>“.<\/p>\n

The results also reveal that, during the year, the company’s parent raised \u00a350.2m from an entity affiliated to its shareholders to support the network build and operations. The total loans to the group by its shareholders for the network build costs and operations now amount to \u00a361.2m, with a further \u00a3220.2m from an entity affiliated to its shareholders (i.e. the Kompass Kapital entities).<\/p>\n

The average number of persons (inc. directors) employed by the company during the year was 64 (2024: 27).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
