Another day brings the launch of yet another new eSIM based virtual UK mobile operator (mvno) to the market, this time called MyCharity Mobile<\/a>. As usual they’ve come up with a semi-unique selling point, which enables customers to donate to any charity of their choice while paying for their mobile plan (15p from every \u00a31 spent).<\/p>\n

The new service is being powered by mobile solutions from Tekmoni<\/strong> and the eSIM Go<\/strong> platform. Customers of the service are offered a choice of three core mobile plans, none of which look to be terribly special (outside of the charitable donations side). The first plan costs \u00a35 per month for 3GB of data (mobile broadband), unlimited calls and texts on a rolling monthly contract, which rises to \u00a310 for 10GB and then \u00a315 for 50GB.<\/p>\n

MyCharity Mobile says this approach provides a “seamless, zero-risk fundraising mechanism<\/em>” for recurring revenue. Supporters simply switch their mobile provider to MyCharity Mobile, while the charity gains a recurring revenue stream. For every \u00a31 spent by a supporter on their mobile plan, 15p is donated directly to their chosen charity.<\/p>\n

The charities themselves can also launch off-shoots of this service by signing up to offer their own branded mobile service.<\/p>\n

Kim Craven, CEO at Tekmoni, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cCharities are under constant pressure to diversify income while managing donor fatigue, often relying on one-off donations and high-effort events to move the needle on fundraising growth. Meanwhile, their supporters are already paying for mobile services every month. MyCharity Mobile joins the dots, creating win-win value from a necessary, existing personal or business payment. It\u2019s completely free for charities to join and there are no licences or complex integrations; we handle everything including co-branding the experience and even providing a full marketing toolkit to help them raise awareness among their community.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The move comes shortly after the same partners launched a similar service called Biker Mobile<\/a><\/strong>, which as you can probably guess was aimed squarely at UK motorcyclists. The announcement doesn’t mention it, but all of these virtual operators are setup to harness Vodafone<\/a>’s national UK 4G<\/a> and 5G<\/a> network.<\/p>\n

We do worry that the mass influx of new virtual operators popping up over the past couple of years could be making the market even more confusing for confusing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
