Earlier this year ISPreview reported on how customers of internet provider iTalk<\/a> (iTalk Affiliate Telecommunications<\/a>) had been complaining about protracted service outages and a lack of support (here<\/a>), while others claimed the provider tried to push them on to a new contract as a way of resolving the issues. Sadly the company now appears to be falling into administration.<\/p>\n

We first got wind that something might be up over the bank holiday weekend, when sources within the industry notified us that they’d seen a sudden and unexpected influx of customer switches from iTalk<\/a>. At the time we couldn’t find any feedback to help confirm the cause, although Thinkbroadband<\/a> has just spotted that iTalk<\/a> filed a notice to appoint an administrator on 28th August 2026<\/strong> (here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> iTalk<\/a> sells packages to consumers via Openreach<\/a>\u2019s national FTTC<\/a> and FTTP<\/a> broadband network, albeit seemingly via wholesale suppliers like Vodafone<\/a> and PXC (formerly TalkTalk<\/a> Wholesale).<\/div>\n

Administration often occurs when a company, such as one that is in financial difficulty, is put into the hands of an administrator. The administrator then decides whether they can help the company to continue running or sell it off for a good price.<\/p>\n

Once in administration, the company is often protected from legal action by people or organisations who are owed money (creditors). Administration can also mean that the company may not have to pay all its debts in full, but if deemed necessary, they can still be wound up.<\/p>\n

The outcome suggests that iTalk may have been struggling to deliver on its Corporate Voluntary Arrangement<\/strong> (CVA), which was first introduced back in October 2024. A CVA can allow a business with debt problems or that is insolvent to reach a voluntary deal with its business creditors (i.e. paying them back over a fixed period). The last update on this in December 2025 suggested that the “CVA will be successfully implemented<\/em>” and was due to complete by October 2029.<\/p>\n

So far neither ISPreview nor Thinkbroadband<\/a> have been able to get a response from iTalk and, according to a 2015 article in The Times<\/a>, the company previously found itself being “raided … by the Information Commissioner\u2019s Office (ICO<\/a>) in connection with millions of unsolicited calls<\/em>.” Meanwhile iTalk’s page on Trustpilot<\/a> remains an interesting mix of 1 star and perfect 5 start reviews.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 12:09pm<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Horsham-based Telecom Acquisitions Group<\/a> (TAL), which is a holding company for a number of familiar retail broadband ISP brands (Home Telecom, Eclipse Broadband, Fleur Telecom etc.) and over 80,000 UK customers, has informed ISPreview that they’re beginning discussions with iTalk’s administrators and suppliers to find a resolution (i.e. possibly an acquisition of the customer base or entire service).<\/p>\n

Nigel Barnett, CEO of Telecom Acquisition, told ISPreview:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a difficult situation, but we have assurances from the suppliers that no service should be affected in the short term. We are here to support Italk’s customers and staff.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Home Telecom uses the same broadband suppliers as italk, so TAL expects that customers could, in theory, be transferred with no loss of service and with matching pricing, terms, and conditions – provided they reach an agreement. We should point out that there may yet be other interested parties, so this is not yet a done deal.<\/p>\n

NOTE: TalkTalk<\/a> has a significant controlling stake in the Telecom Acquisitions Group (TAL).<\/p>\n
