Alternative broadband operator and UK ISP RunFibre<\/a>, which originally built a small full fibre (FTTP<\/a>) broadband network across rural parts of South Gloucestershire (England) and was in June 2025 acquired from the Fibreray Group by Fibre Nova<\/a> (here<\/a>), has quietly changed hands again and been acquired by the new Bentry Infrastructure Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RunFibre is a relatively tiny altnet that originally started life in 2020\/21 by deploying their full fibre lines into Hawkesbury Upton, Inglestone Common and surrounding areas \u2013 often with support from the government\u2019s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme<\/a> (GBVS). Some of their other locations included Falfield, Iron Acton, Sopworth and Little Badminton, Charfied West, Easter Compton and Over Lane.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> In August 2024 Runfibre stated that its network had passed \u201cover 1,500 premises<\/em>\u201c, but we haven’t had any updates since then.<\/div>\n

However, the provider appeared to be suffering from some challenges toward the end of 2023 and ended up being acquired by the Fibreray Group for an undisclosed sum during August 2024 (here<\/a>), which at the time indicated that the operator would continue to focus its future deployments on \u201csmaller communities<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

The new owner didn’t last long though as, come June 2025, a relatively new company and retail ISP called Fibre Nova Ltd<\/strong><\/a> ended up taking control, which was managed by Lee Thomas Murphy (i.e. the same person who originally helped to setup another altnet provider, FACTCO, before it re-branded to the Fusion Fibre Group). Shortly after this Lee placed Fibre Nova under the control of another business he was involved with, Iron Beach Ventures Ltd<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since then we haven’t been sent any press releases from Fibre Nova, but they have continued to conduct various smaller community FTTP<\/a> broadband builds using the GBVS, which often still seem to list RunFibre as the street works firm (i.e. by the looks of it, RunFibre became the infrastructure side for GBVS projects, with Fibre Nova doing the retail). Fibre Nova also sell packages via Openreach<\/a>’s network.<\/p>\n

For example, Fibre Nova\u2019s LinkedIn page<\/a> mentions small community FTTP<\/a> builds in West Kirby (Merseyside), Pennington Wharf (Leigh Wigan) and Lowton (Wigan). RunFibre’s engineers have also recently been spotted building into the Worcestershire village of Romsley (credits to Shaukat for spotting that one), as well as the odd other location; this despite the fact that the GBVS is slowly coming to an end<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The latest development, which occurred in August 2026, is that both RunFibre and FibreNova have now been acquired by the Bentry Infrastructure Group<\/strong>, which was only recently incorporated during April 2026 and has one Director attached – Jaswinder Singh Gill.<\/p>\n

Bentry’s website, which is currently only partly finished, describes the company as a “vertically integrated UK infrastructure platform. We design, build, own, and operate networks, generating recurring revenue across every stage of the value chain<\/em>.” Bentry also controls a third company, Access Fibre<\/a>, which was established at around the same time as its parent and appears to be more of a fibre-centric street works firm (website<\/a>).<\/p>\n

So far as we can tell, Neil Woolerton is the boss of the new group and they’ve hired various other senior leaders, which suggests that Bentry might be planning something a bit bigger than what has gone before. ISPreview did ask Bentry for a comment on the acquisitions and their future plans, but has yet to receive a response. Meanwhile we note that RunFibre is showing overdue accounts, but that sometimes happens after such a change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
