Customers of mobile operator Three UK<\/a> have been given a boost at London Gatwick Airport after VodafoneThree deployed their Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) technology across the site, which enables Three’s customers to harness Vodafone<\/a>’s existing 4G<\/a> and 5G<\/a>+ capable mobile (mobile broadband) network – part of the on-going network integration work.<\/p>\n

Back in 2022 Vodafone<\/a> deployed dedicated network coverage across both the airport\u2019s North and South terminals, which was more recently upgraded to support their latest 5G<\/a>+ (5G<\/a> Standalone) technology for even faster performance. Suffice to say that Three UK<\/a>’s customers should now be able to benefit from this too. London Gatwick is the country\u2019s second-busiest airport, receiving around 43 million passengers each year.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> Post-merger VodafoneThree was initially a private company \u2013 51% owned by Vodafone<\/a> and 49% owned by CK Hutchison (Three UK<\/a>). But that changed in May 2026 after Vodafone reached a deal to \u201cbuy out<\/em>\u201d CKH from the joint venture for \u00a34.3bn (\u20ac4.9bn) \u2013 here<\/a>. Take note that VodafoneThree also includes the VOXI<\/a>, SMARTY<\/a> and Talkmobile<\/a> brands.<\/div>\n

The change forms part of VodafoneThree’s post-merger plan to invest \u00a311bn<\/strong> into upgrading their 5G mobile infrastructure and coverage over the next decade (here<\/a>, here<\/a> and here<\/a>). As part of that they’ve committed to reach more than 99.96% of the UK\u2019s population with their 5G+ network by 2034 (99% by 2030) and to push fixed wireless access (mobile home broadband) to 82% of households by 2030, among other things.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
