{"id":4842,"date":"2013-12-13T07:44:23","date_gmt":"2013-12-13T07:44:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=4842"},"modified":"2013-12-13T07:44:23","modified_gmt":"2013-12-13T07:44:23","slug":"bt-copper-cable-theft-knocks-sky-broadband-south-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2013\/12\/bt-copper-cable-theft-knocks-sky-broadband-south-london.html","title":{"rendered":"Copper Cable Theft Knocks Out Sky Broadband in South and West London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tens of thousands of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/bskyb\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Sky Broadband<\/a> customers in the South and West London area have been left without broadband and phone connectivity after thieves, whom attempted to steal vital copper telecoms cable from a site in West London (Great West Road) on 10th December, cut several vital fibre optic links.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The serious loss of broadband service, which is also likely to have impacted some other ISPs, has caused protracted connectivity problems for local homes and residents in the following areas: Stamford Hill, Dartford, Ewell, Mitcham, Wimbledon, Hampstead, Battersea, Chiswick and Beulah Hill.<\/p>\n<p>BTOpenreach were yesterday able to restore service to <strong>27,000 customers<\/strong> originally affected by the malicious attack in the following areas: Dartford, Mitcham, Battersea, Wimbledon, Hampstead and Beulah Hill. However an update posted last night warned that it could take a &#8220;<em>further 48 hours<\/em>&#8221; to reconnect the remaining <strong>10,000 customers<\/strong> in Stamford Hill, Ewell and Chiswick.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Sky&#8217; Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Please note, your broadband speeds may be slower than usual in these areas while the network resumes full service.
