{"id":5518,"date":"2014-02-17T13:34:44","date_gmt":"2014-02-17T13:34:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=5518"},"modified":"2014-02-17T13:38:04","modified_gmt":"2014-02-17T13:38:04","slug":"former-bt-wholesale-ceo-joins-cityfibre-non-executive-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/02\/former-bt-wholesale-ceo-joins-cityfibre-non-executive-director.html","title":{"rendered":"Former BT Wholesale CEO Joins CityFibre as UK Non-Executive Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Urban fibre optic network developer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a> has today appointed the former CEO of BTWholesale, Sally Davis, to the role of non-executive director in the hope that the operator will be able to draw on her &#8220;<em>considerable experience<\/em>&#8221; to help build on their recent expansion and investment wins.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a> recently secured approximately <strong>\u00a316.5m<\/strong> after confirming their admission to and trading of Ordinary Shares on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/01\/cityfibre-uk-floats-onto-aim-market-london-stock-exchange.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). On top of that they&#8217;ve also won a vital <strong>\u00a335m<\/strong> deal to roll-out an independent metro fibre optic and telecoms network around the city of <strong>Peterborough<\/strong> in the East of England (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2013\/10\/cityfibre-deploy-gigabit-fibre-optic-network-homes-peterborough-uk.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Since then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a> has been busy preparing for more expansion and investment, which last year resulted in the similar appointment of former Colt CEO, <strong>Peter Manning<\/strong>, as another non-executive Chairman.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Sally Davis said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>CityFibre has a bold vision to enable UK cities to compete with their fastest European counterparts. It is already delivering pure fibre infrastructure into businesses and homes in prominent cities, including York and Bournemouth and has recently announced a huge investment in fibre infrastructure in Peterborough.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>CityFibre is one of a very few businesses committed to providing pure fibre connectivity as opposed to fibre-to-the-cabinet [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a>] technology relying on the old copper-based network. I am delighted to be involved with a company with a vision to bring the huge benefits of ultra-fast connectivity to UK cities<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The news comes immediately after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/gigaclear\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Gigaclear<\/a> announced that it too had snapped up a former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> boss in the shape of ex-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a> CEO <strong>Steve Robertson<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/02\/uk-isp-gigaclear-establishes-advisory-group-guide-rural-fttp-rollout.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). Clearly former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> chiefs are somewhat in demand at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile\u00a0<strong>Greg Mesch<\/strong>, CityFibre&#8217;s CEO, said they&#8217;re currently talking with city councils across the UK about expansion of their fibre optic broadband network and that Sally\u2019s appointment was &#8220;<em>a further validation of our strategy<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Greg Mesch, CityFibre&#8217;s CEO, added:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>It is beyond doubt that we are now the best-placed alternative fibre infrastructure provider.
