One option could be to repurpose them for use by Mobile Broadband services.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nA significant chunk of the bands, which were originally used by the old <strong>analogue TV services <\/strong>(expected to be cleared by the end of 2012), have already been freed up for <strong>Digital TV<\/strong> services and others will soon be used by &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a>&#8221; superfast Mobile Broadband (<strong>800MHz<\/strong>) services. But that still leaves a big question mark over chunks of <strong>700MHz<\/strong> and some <strong>600MHz<\/strong>, which could be repurposed for use elsewhere.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/wp-content\/gallery\/2012-article-illustrations\/ofcom_uk_uhf_bands_iv_and_v.gif\" alt=\"ofcom uk uhf bands iv and v\" \/><\/div>\n<p>The consultation (<strong>closes on 7th June 2012<\/strong>) makes clear that any solution would need to be mindful of Digital TV services, which share the same frequency.
