Sounds good, until your connection gets throttled back to almost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/dialup\">dialup<\/a> speeds.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The only other network to offer unlimited style data in the United Kingdom is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/threeuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Three UK<\/a>&#8217;s with its &#8220;<em>all-you-can-eat<\/em>&#8221; tariffs, although those who intend to use their Smartphone&#8217;s as a glorified modem (<strong>Tethering<\/strong>) for their desktop or laptop computers etc. are now separately capped to <strong>2GB<\/strong> (GigaBytes) of usage (applies to new customers since late March).<\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s perhaps of little surprise to find that Lycamobile, being a MVNO for another network that also can&#8217;t offer unlimited data, isn&#8217;t actually able to offer the claimed unlimited usage without imposing some restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly Visitors to Lyca&#8217;s website will be hard pressed to find any mention of these restrictions (we tried but had no luck) but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2014\/04\/07\/lyca_4g_10gb_cap\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Register<\/a> did a little digging and discovered that the service is only &#8220;<em>unlimited<\/em>&#8221; for the first <strong>10GB<\/strong> (GigaBytes) of usage and after that your Mobile Broadband speeds will be throttled all the way back to 2G style performance of\u00a0<strong>128Kbps<\/strong> (0.12Mbps).
