{"id":6633,"date":"2014-04-25T11:28:09","date_gmt":"2014-04-25T10:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=6633"},"modified":"2014-04-28T16:41:03","modified_gmt":"2014-04-28T15:41:03","slug":"ofcom-propose-code-powers-help-ms3-expand-dark-fibre-network-hull","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/04\/ofcom-propose-code-powers-help-ms3-expand-dark-fibre-network-hull.html","title":{"rendered":"Ofcom Propose Code Powers to Help MS3 Expand Dark Fibre Network in Hull"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ms3communications.com\" target=\"_blank\">MS3 Networks<\/a> has won provisional approval from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a> that would grant the operator Code Powers (making street works easier etc.) in order to help expand their independent and ultra-fast Dark Fibre optic broadband ISP network in Hull (East Yorkshire, England), which is already being used by a number of local businesses and competes with KC&#8217;s own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a> deployment.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The new multi-million pound <strong>116km<\/strong> long <strong>Dark Fibre<\/strong> network, which went live just over one year ago, has been keen to carry on with their plans by adding to the existing infrastructure and serving other business parks. Indeed today&#8217;s update from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a> confirms that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ms3\" target=\"_blank\">MS3<\/a> &#8220;<em>plans to deploy further fibre optic cables in ducts under both public highways and private land in Hull and the surrounding area<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Tony Hales, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ms3\" target=\"_blank\">MS3<\/a>\u2032s Managing Director, said recently:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>We will carry on growing our network until we\u2019ve covered as much of the city as possible. I\u2019d like to apologise in advance for the construction which will be ongoing around Hull whilst we create a bigger network but I hope people appreciate that it\u2019s because we want to provide Hull with an unrivalled fibre infrastructure which can support businesses in the city whilst also attracting new investment and job creation in the area<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Precise details for the next stage (<strong>Phase 2<\/strong>) of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ms3\" target=\"_blank\">MS3<\/a>&#8217;s deployment aren&#8217;t yet known, although last year the operator told ISPreview.co.uk that it estimated the expansion would cost around \u00a33 million and focus upon other parts of the city in the East Hull and North Hull areas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a>&#8217;s related <a href=\"http:\/\/stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk\/consultations\/ms3-network\/\" target=\"_blank\">consultation<\/a> will remain open until <strong>27th May 2014<\/strong> and we do not expect the provisional approval to be reversed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MS3 Networks has won provisional approval from Ofcom that would grant the operator Code Powers (making street works easier etc.) in order to help expand their independent and ultra-fast Dark Fibre optic broadband ISP network in Hull (East Yorkshire, England), which is already being used by a number of local businesses and competes with KC&#8217;s [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":6634,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[472,52,76],"class_list":["post-6633","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uk_isp_news","tag-business","tag-fibre-optic","tag-kc"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"","error":""},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.1 -
