{"id":6696,"date":"2014-05-02T07:54:13","date_gmt":"2014-05-02T06:54:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=6696"},"modified":"2014-05-02T07:54:13","modified_gmt":"2014-05-02T06:54:13","slug":"kc-fibre-broadband-rollout-update-32000-premises-passed-hull-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/05\/kc-fibre-broadband-rollout-update-32000-premises-passed-hull-uk.html","title":{"rendered":"KC Fibre Broadband Rollout Update &#8211; 32000 Premises Passed in Hull UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Telecoms operator KC (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/kcom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">KCOM<\/a> Group), which serves Hull and some other parts of East Yorkshire in England, has confirmed that their superfast 350Mbps capable fibre optic (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>\/C) <em>Lightstream<\/em> broadband product has now passed 32,000 homes and businesses with 9,000 customers connected (28% uptake) and more areas confirmed for the future upgrade plan.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The latest <a href=\"http:\/\/lightstream.kc.co.uk\/news\/now-and-next\/\" target=\"_blank\">roll-out update<\/a>, which represents an increase from the 24,700 premises passed and 5,900 connected (24% uptake) recorded in November 2013, states that the next phase of KC&#8217;s deployment will focus upon many different parts of <strong>Brough<\/strong>, <strong>Hessle<\/strong>, <strong>Kingswood<\/strong> (KC began deployments here in 2012 but some areas remain unfinished) and <strong>the Avenues<\/strong> area of Hull between now and the <strong>end of 2014<\/strong> (a break-down of the new areas can be found below).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to remember that most of KC&#8217;s Lightstream product deployment is being dominated by their <strong>350Mbps<\/strong> capable fibre optic (Fibre-to-the-Premises &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>\/H) network, which is the reverse of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>\u2019s approach where the slower hybrid-fibre <strong>Fibre-to-the-Cabinet<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a>) solution is the priority. At present their top HOME package is a 100Mbps (10Mbps uploads) option with an unlimited usage allowance and free connection for \u00a350 per month.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly KC&#8217;s latest roll-out update claims the service offers &#8220;<em>guaranteed download speeds<\/em>&#8220;, although we suspect that this is merely a bit of PR spin because the home packages are not accompanied by a firm <strong>Service Level Agreement<\/strong> (SLA);
