{"id":6697,"date":"2014-05-02T08:41:20","date_gmt":"2014-05-02T07:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=6697"},"modified":"2014-05-02T09:31:13","modified_gmt":"2014-05-02T08:31:13","slug":"actor-simon-pegg-complains-gbp21000-bt-bill-broadband-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/05\/actor-simon-pegg-complains-gbp21000-bt-bill-broadband-upgrade.html","title":{"rendered":"Actor Simon Pegg Complains of GBP21000 BT Bill for Broadband Upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The famous British comedian, actor and writer, Simon Pegg (&#8216;Shaun of the Dead&#8217;, &#8216;StarTrek&#8217;, &#8216;The World&#8217;s End&#8217; etc.), has taken to Twitter in order to have a grumble about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> after the national UK telecoms operator agreed to &#8220;<em>hook our street up for broadband<\/em>&#8220;, albeit at a cost of \u00a321,000.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In the grander scheme of things <strong>\u00a321,000<\/strong> doesn&#8217;t actually sound all that bad for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> quote, especially with some other areas being quoted many times that. On the other hand Pegg&#8217;s comment, which was spotted by <a href=\"http:\/\/recombu.com\/digital\/news\/simon-peggs-street-billed-21000-for-bt-broadband_M13124.html\" target=\"_blank\">Recombu<\/a>, is somewhat lacking in detail and so it&#8217;s impossible to make any meaningful comparisons.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>In other phone news <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>, Europe\u2019s biggest telecom provider have agreed to hook our street up for broadband. We just have to give then \u00a321K<\/em>,&#8221; said Pegg in his <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/simonpegg\/status\/461846530421719040\" target=\"_blank\">Tweet<\/a>. ISPreview.co.uk has reached out to Pegg&#8217;s official PR contact in the hope of securing a few more details but we&#8217;d be surprised if the busy star of TV and film has enough spare time to respond.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly little is known about where Pegg lives today, not least because his career has taken him from Glasgow to London and most recently he is believed to have been living in a <strong>Hertfordshire<\/strong> village with his wife Maureen and their daughter. Likewise celebrities&#8217; rarely like to share their exact home details because sadly the world is still full of psychopaths and trolls with nothing better to do than stalk.. or apparently ruin some news comment feeds.<\/p>\n<p>Still the fact that BT quoted for an entire street to be upgraded would appear to suggest that Pegg might live in one of the areas that won&#8217;t benefit from the \u00a318.06m <a href=\"http:\/\/www.superfastforbucks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Connected Counties<\/a> scheme, which aims to roll-out the operators &#8220;<em>fibre broadband<\/em>&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a>\/P) network to cover 90% of local premises in Hertfordshire and <strong>Buckinghamshire<\/strong> (England) by the end of <strong>March 2016<\/strong>.
