Business focused ISP Claranet has today become the latest internet provider to upgrade its range of superfast “Fibre<\/em>” broadband packages to support download speeds of up to 80Mbps<\/strong> (Megabits per second) on BT<\/a>’s Fibre-to-the-Cabinet<\/strong> (FTTC<\/a>) platform for home and business users.
\n
\nClaranet describes its network as being “business grade<\/em>“, which is another way of saying that you should expect to pay a bit more for the extra quality (this is similar to Zen Internet<\/a>’s philosophy on access provision). As a result the ISPs three primary Home Fibre Broadband packages certainly don’t sit at the budget end of FTTC<\/a> pricing.<\/p>\n

Each package is offered alongside either a 12 or 24 month contract term<\/strong>, although the free engineer install<\/strong> is only available if you take out a lengthy 24 month contract. Otherwise the ISPs site remains somewhat sparse on detail, possibly because they’re more geared towards business solutions, which incidentally go up to 110Mbps<\/strong> on BT<\/a>’s FTTP<\/a> platform.<\/p>\n

Sadly there’s no word on whether or not Claranet’s existing 40Mbps capable FTTC<\/a> customers will get the upgrade to 80Mbps for free or not.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
