{"id":6821,"date":"2014-05-22T09:58:22","date_gmt":"2014-05-22T08:58:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=6821"},"modified":"2014-05-22T09:59:39","modified_gmt":"2014-05-22T08:59:39","slug":"vodafone-uk-boosts-4g-mobile-broadband-netflix-content","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/05\/vodafone-uk-boosts-4g-mobile-broadband-netflix-content.html","title":{"rendered":"Vodafone UK Boosts 4G Mobile Broadband with Netflix Content"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mobile operator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> has signed an exclusive promotional partnership with Internet-based unlimited movie and TV video streaming service <a href=\"http:\/\/www.netflix.com\" target=\"_blank\">Netflix UK<\/a>, which from July 2014 will give customers of their latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> based Mobile Broadband network free access to Netflix\u2019s content.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Access to Netflix in the UK usually costs <strong>\u00a35.99 per month<\/strong> (this will soon rise to \u00a36.99) but under the new deal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a>&#8217;s Red <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> customers (note: only plans priced over \u00a326) will benefit from a <strong>6 month pre-paid subscription<\/strong>, although you&#8217;ll have to pay if you want to keep going after that.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently this offer will include &#8220;<em>as much UK mobile internet as you want for the first three months<\/em>&#8220;, although we&#8217;d caution against interpreting this as &#8216;unlimited&#8217; usage until we\u2019ve had a chance to confirm. Netflix is a very data heavy service and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a>&#8217;s limited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> usage allowances aren&#8217;t exactly friendly to it.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Cindy Rose, Consumer Director Vodafone UK, said: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>With 4G, speed is just the start: it\u2019s what you can do with it that\u2019s really exciting. We\u2019re delighted to be partnering with Netflix so that our Red 4G customers can enjoy their favourite TV programmes and films when out and about. We\u2019re already offering 4G in hundreds of cities, towns and villages across the UK, providing an amazing video streaming experience. There\u2019s no need to mess about finding a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/wifi\">wifi<\/a> hotspot, with ultrafast 4G you can just enjoy your favourite entertainment on the move whenever you want it<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>ISPreview.co.uk is currently attempting to clarify the situation surrounding Netflix related data usage on Vodafone&#8217;s 4G platform and will report back when we have an answer.
