{"id":7018,"date":"2014-06-21T07:31:00","date_gmt":"2014-06-21T06:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=7018"},"modified":"2014-06-21T07:33:24","modified_gmt":"2014-06-21T06:33:24","slug":"three-uk-follows-ee-launch-mobile-calls-txt-wifi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/06\/three-uk-follows-ee-launch-mobile-calls-txt-wifi.html","title":{"rendered":"Three UK Follows EE to Launch Mobile Calls and TXT over WiFi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mobile operator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/threeuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Three UK<\/a> has announced the forthcoming launch of a new App (&#8216;<em>Three inTouch<\/em>&#8216;) that will allow their customers to talk and text, using existing allowances, over a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/wifi\">WiFi<\/a> based wireless Internet connection, such as the one that most people have at home or even via a public hotspot connection.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Three inTouch<\/strong> service, which follows immediately after rival <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> announced the forthcoming launch of an identical product (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/06\/ee-conduct-live-uk-trials-voice-calls-wifi-4g-mobile.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>), is expected to be made available to all customers from <strong>early August 2014<\/strong> and will be offered free to all their contract, SIM and Pay As You Go (PAYG) customers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>ThreeUK Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>With Three inTouch customers can make and receive calls and text messages when they connect to Wi-Fi. It\u2019s a free app which uses their existing monthly allowance or prepaid credit for any minutes or texts used. The service is seamless and uses the customers\u2019 usual Three phone number.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Three inTouch will particularly improve the experience in places where there is typically no mobile signal.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth pointing out that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vm\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Virgin Media<\/a> have also launched similar solutions for their fixed line home broadband and phone connections (e.g. SmartCall).
