{"id":7301,"date":"2014-07-30T09:06:53","date_gmt":"2014-07-30T08:06:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=7301"},"modified":"2014-07-30T09:06:53","modified_gmt":"2014-07-30T08:06:53","slug":"bt-openreach-publishes-basic-uk-key-performance-indicators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/07\/bt-openreach-publishes-basic-uk-key-performance-indicators.html","title":{"rendered":"BT Openreach Publishes Very Basic UK Key Performance Indicators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BTOpenreach, as part of its new commitments to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a>, has this week moved to make more information available about the performance of their work to maintain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>&#8217;s national UK telecoms and broadband network (e.g. repair and new service installation appointment times etc.), although it&#8217;s all very basic.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The telecoms regulator recently imposed new requirements upon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a> to help enhance their quality of service and encourage public reporting of performance (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/06\/ofcom-uk-impose-new-quality-service-rules-upon-bt-openreach.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a> said that the reports should be quarterly and &#8220;<em>provide clear, meaningful and transparent information about how long <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a> is taking to repair faults and install new lines, allowing consumers to keep track of the company\u2019s performance<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>At the time <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a> told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> to ensure that it was in compliance with the new measures by October &#8220;<em>at the latest<\/em>&#8220;, although happily <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a> has decided to do one better by making a summary of their <strong>Key Performance Indicators<\/strong> (KPI) available for everybody to see on their website under the &#8216;<a title=\"BT Openreach's Our responsibilities page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.expect.openreach.co.uk\/Our-responsibilities\/\" target=\"_new\"><strong>Our responsibilities<\/strong><\/a>&#8216; page (you can click sections of the illustration there to access more data).<\/p>\n<p>The current data is applicable for the period of <strong>1st April \u2013 30th June 2014<\/strong>, although a <strong>January &#8211; March 2014<\/strong> comparison is also included, and primarily focuses on appointment times for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>&#8217;s own <strong>Wholesale Voice Line<\/strong> (WLR) and <strong>Fully Unbundled Lines <\/strong>(MPF), with the latter being most commonly used by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/bskyb\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Sky Broadband<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a>. Both services are used in the delivery of copper-based broadband and phone lines.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/wp-content\/gallery\/2014-internet-statistics\/bt_openreach_performance.gif\" alt=\"bt openreach performance\" \/><\/div>\n<p>The information can also be broken down by region, although it&#8217;s frustrating to find that Openreach have chosen to use old-fashioned regions like &#8216;Wessex&#8217; instead of individual counties as the latter would have been much more useful, albeit probably more tedious for Openreach to produce.
